Stop Blaming Leaders, Change Begins With You, EARCOM Tells Nigerians
Stop blaming leaders, change begins with you, EARCOM tells Nigerians. The Head of the Media and Advocacy Unit of the Akwa Ibom State Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, Rev. Osondu Ahirika PhD has rejected the notion that leaders are solely to be blamed for the problems of the nation, harping that citizens must return to the “change begins with me” campaign.
Dr Ahirika said EARCOM will continue its campaign for a mindset shift and the understanding that until they become good followers and realise the need to ‘change’ first before asking for good leaders, then the problem of bad governance will continue because leaders are a reflection of their followers.
Ahirika who spoke as a guest on the Big Talk on Passion 94.5 FM Uyo on Monday, while conceding that attitudinal change should be a ”top-down approach”, however, argued that without a corresponding bottom-top approach” reorientation towards raising responsible followership the vision of a great nation will never materialise.
He said Nigeria continues to remain stagnant because citizens blame everything on leaders without making an intentional effort to correct the ills of society by addressing social vices and character flaws they manifest, insisting that, citizens at all levels and rungs of the society should change themselves first, without which leaders who emerge in future will still be flawed as others before them.

EARCOM Tells Nigerians
Dr Ahirika who made this call while explaining what EARCOM requires of citizens to make progress while speaking on Memories 96.5 fm Uyo on the programme ARISE UPDATE, also sued for total commitment to behavioural change for a better society on the path of citizens.
He lauded Governor Umo Eno for the ongoing inauguration of Model Primary Schools and Health Centres as well as the Dialysis Centre in the General Hospital Ikot Ekpene and charged the host communities to ensure they maintain, preserve and protect the social infrastructural investments made by the State Governme
