The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has successfully facilitated the extradition of one Matthew Chukwuemeka Adebiyi to the United Kingdom to face charges bordering on murder and drug trafficking.
The extradition followed a formal request by United Kingdom authorities in September 2024 to locate, arrest, and extradite the fugitive over his alleged involvement in the murder of one Joshua Boadu on 18th June 2018, after which he fled to Nigeria to evade arrest. He was also alleged to have been involved in the supply of crack cocaine, a Class-A controlled drug, between October 2017 and March 2018 in the United Kingdom.
The suspect was arrested on 23rd January 2025 by operatives of the INTERPOL NCB Abuja, following which extradition proceedings were initiated at the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/416/2025. On 16th February 2026, Honourable Justice A.O. Faji granted the application for his extradition in accordance with the Extradition Act, Cap E25, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Recruitment: Police Fix April 28–30 For Aptitude Test Nationwide
AnimaThe Police Service Commission has announced April 28 to 30, 2026, as the dates for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test for candidates in the ongoing police recruitment exercise.
The test, which follows the nationwide physical and credentials screening billed to end on April 18, will be conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued by the Sokoto State Police Command on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufa’i, said the CBT is a decisive stage in the recruitment process.
“The Computer-Based Aptitude Test is a critical phase designed to ensure that only suitably qualified candidates are recruited into the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
Rufa’i explained that the duration of the test in each state would depend on the number of candidates and the availability of functional CBT centres, noting that some states may complete the exercise in one day, while others could require the full three-day window.
“The scheduling is flexible to accommodate operational realities across states, but every eligible candidate will be given a fair opportunity to participate,” he added.
“Candidates are advised to remain patient and rely only on information from official channels. Details of venues and shortlisted candidates will be communicated in due course,” Rufa’i stated.

The police also warned against misinformation, stressing that all updates regarding the exercise would be released through verified platforms.
The ongoing recruitment exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the manpower and operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
