Rivers Crisis: Wike Reveals That Fubara Is Not Ijaw

Rivers Crisis: Wike reveals that Fubara is not Ijaw. Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not an Ijaw man.

Wike made the statement while addressing a gathering of Kalabari people during a Thanksgiving Service and Civic Reception event organized in his honour on Saturday in Abalama, Asari-Toru Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, Wike told the Kalabari people: “Let nobody deceive you that the governor is Ijaw; it’s not true. All of you are Ijaw, is it not? Are you benefiting? So what is this? Politics is interest. Political satire merchandise

“We must come up to say people must not behave and treat people, use and dump them, and then you say it’s politics. That politics has to stop.

“So, let nobody deceive you. When they go and collect money at the back, they will tell you, ‘let’s go and do this.’ Ask him, that one you collected last night, did you put my own there?”

Fubara Is Not Ijaw

Wike had earlier claimed that an Ijaw candidate could not have won the governorship in Rivers State without his backing. However, he later asserted that the Ijaw ethnic group is not the majority in any Niger Delta state except Bayelsa.

Additionally, Wike has been quoted saying that the Opobo clan, where Governor Fubara comes from, does not represent the “real” Ijaw people.

This latest remark comes amid the ongoing political crisis between Wike and Fubara.

Akwa Ibom LG Chairman Sets To Report Construction Company For Poor Performance

Akwa Ibom LG Chairman sets to report construction company for poor performance. Ikot Ekpene Chairman, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, has threatened to send digital copies of the Ikot Ekpene – Aba road one-lane construction to Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, despite allegedly underperforming as a council chairman in recent months.

Nkom, whose achievements have been limited to painting the old Ikot Ekpene council secretariat, grading truck parks, and providing limited educational support JAMB forms, made this announcement during a peaceful demonstration by students of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

The students were protesting persistent brutality and harassment by officers from the Nigerian Police Force, Ikot Ekpene Division, and QIU, Ikot Ekpene Division.

The council chairman accused the construction company, Messrs CGGC Global Projects Nigeria Limited, of building a one-lane carriage instead of the approved dualized road, referencing Contract No.6569 and Project Code ERGP12141436 under the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, awarded in 2019.

Nkom stated, “For those of us from Ikot Ekpene, you have seen this road. For those coming from Aba, you can see where they stopped the dual carriage.

Now, they are constructing a single lane to Ikot Ekpene. This is what we are talking about when we mention injustice.”

He further mentioned his intention to document the road’s condition with NTA and send the footage to the Senate President, calling the situation a serious embarrassment to Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing the issue of police brutality against Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic students, Nkom asserted that any policeman or army officer who harasses a student without any offense will face consequences, urging students to always carry their identity cards.

NIPSS Inaugurates 97 New Participants As Members Of SEC 47

NIPSS inaugurates 97 new participants as members of SEC 47. The vice president further said that the nation could unlock its oceans’ full potential through research, dialogue, and collaboration.

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has inaugurated 97 participants as members of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47.

Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated the participants on Monday in Jos.

The vice president, represented by Josephine Piyo, the deputy governor of Plateau, congratulated the participants for their nomination as participants for the course.

Mr Shettima, who described their research theme “Blue Economy and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities” as timely, called on them to provide solutions to the challenges currently facing the nation.

“As you embark on this new chapter of exploration and learning, you are reminded of the critical importance of sustainable development and the preservation of our oceans and marine resources.

The blue economy represents a vast and untapped potential for economic growth, innovation, and environmental conservation.

“It encompasses a wide range of activities, from fisheries and aquaculture to marine tourism and renewable energy.

By harnessing the resources of our oceans responsibly and sustainably, we will create new opportunities for prosperity while safeguarding the health of our marine ecosystems.

“As scholars and policymakers, it is our collective responsibility to delve deep into the complexities of the blue economy, to understand its challenges and opportunities, and to develop strategies that promote inclusive and sustainable growth,” he said.

The vice president further said that through research, dialogue, and collaboration, the nation could unlock the full potential of its oceans and ensure a prosperous future for future generations.
“This induction marks the beginning of a rigorous academic inquiry, thoughtful analysis, and informed policy recommendations.

“It is a testament to our nation’s commitment to excellence and dedication to shaping a better Nigeria through knowledge and expertise.
