PDP Sues Ned Nwoko, Demands By-Election For Delta North Senatorial Seat

PDP Sues Ned Nwoko, Demands By-Election For Delta North Senatorial Seat
PDP sues Ned Nwoko, demands by-election for Delta North Senatorial Seat. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to declare the Delta North Senatorial seat vacant following the defection of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/454/2025, filed by its counsel, Dr. Ayo Asala (SAN), the PDP is requesting the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a by-election to fill the seat.
The suit names Senator Nwoko as the first defendant, with the Senate President and INEC listed as the second and third defendants, respectively.
The PDP is also demanding that Nwoko return all salaries, allowances, and benefits he received as a senator from the date of his defection.

PDP
The party argues that, based on Section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), an elected lawmaker who defects to another party should vacate their seat.
The party further seeks a court order compelling the Senate President and INEC to declare the seat vacant and conduct a fresh election.

Kaduna Woman Drags 3 Neighbours To Sharia Court For Allegedly Calling Her Prostitute
Kaduna Woman drags 3 neighbours to Sharia court for allegedly calling her prostitute. Amiddle-aged woman, Shema’u Isma’il, on Wednesday, dragged three neighbours before a Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, for allegedly calling her a prostitute.
The complainant accused Halima Umar, Aisha Umar, and Bilkisu Umar for allegedly making defamatory remarks about her, particularly regarding her marital status.
“They said I am living alone despite being a married woman,” she told the court.
She further alleged that the defendants harass her nine-year-old son, scaring him away and beating him whenever he goes outside to play.
She pleaded, “We have tried to settle the matter at home, but they refuse to stop. I want this honourable court to intervene and grant me justice.’’ Ms Halima, mother of Aisha and Bilkisu, who spoke in their defence, denied the allegation.

Shari’a Court
She claimed that the complainant was the first to insult her children, calling them prostitutes, and they only retaliated. She also told the court that both the complainant’s son and her own children were underage.
The Judge, Kabir Muhammad asked the defendants whether they had witnesses, to which they responded in the affirmative.
The judge subsequently referred the case to the police for further investigation and adjourned the hearing until March 26.

Katsina Gov. Dikko Radda Sets Strict Regulatory Standards For Health Institutions

Katsina Gov. Dikko Radda Sets Strict Regulatory Standards For Health Institutions
Katsina Gov. Dikko Radda sets strict regulatory standards for health institutions. Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced that only health training institutions that meet regulatory requirements will be allowed to operate in the state.
The governor made this statement at the State Executive Council meeting, through a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, on Wednesday in Katsina.
The governor made this disclosure after receiving the comprehensive evaluation report on the state’s College of Health Sciences and Technology (COHESKAT) and 31 private health training institutions (PHTIs) operating across the state.
Mr Radda commended the committee for its thorough work and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding high educational standards in healthcare training.
“We must ensure that only qualified institutions operate in Katsina State,” the governor stated.
Mr Radda also directed the immediate establishment of a white paper committee to implement the panel’s recommendations.

Dikko Radda
Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Faisal Umar, said that many private health institutions in the state had significant deficiencies.
He further noted that the report showed only nine out of the 31 private health colleges met the necessary operational standards.
Mr Umar stated, “The majority of the private health training institutions visited are unfit to operate in the state due to noncompliance with both regulatory and professional standards.”

NNPP Slams Nasir El-Rufai Over Comment, Denies APC Responsible For Party’s Crisis

NNPP Slams Nasir El-Rufai Over Comment, Denies APC Responsible For Party’s Crisis
NNPP slams Nasir El-Rufai over comment, denies APC responsible for party’s crisis. The NNPP advised El-Rufai to know that the choice of who rules Nigeria in 2027 cannot be determined by him.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party has said the claim by a former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, that the ruling All Progressives Congress caused its crisis is false and condemnable.
The party spoke on the backdrop of the recent allegations by Mr El-Rufai that the crises in PDP, Labour Party and NNPP were caused and fuelled by the APC.
Recall that Mr El-Rufai alleged that the APC was behind the internal crises rocking the opposition political parties.
In a viral video on X on Tuesday, Mr El-Rufai claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was deliberately sponsoring disputes within these parties to weaken their leadership.
In a statement in Lagos on Wednesday, NNPP’s National Chairman, Dr Agbo Major, said that the party was compelled to respond to Mr El-Rufai because his utterances linking the NNPP challenges to the APC were misguided.
He said, “El-Rufai’s assertions were inaccurate information he may have gathered from enemies of NNPP’s internal democratic processes.”
Mr Major pointed out that the crisis in NNPP which had been resolved, was as a result of the inordinate ambition of some members in total disregard for agreements and party rules and regulations.
The party stated, “The genesis of the crisis in NNPP erupted shortly after the 2023 general elections as a result of termination of a Memorandum of Understanding that struck a temporary union, between the NNPP, The National Movement (TNM) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
The genesis and progress of the disagreement has been vigorously put there in the open, using all media platforms since 2023.

El-Rufai
If the ordinary and uneducated Nigerians are familiar with the facts about the raging crisis, then it’s disappointing for El-Rufai to come to the open media to make such unguarded and unacceptable statement. Nigerians are no longer to be deceived.
El-Rufai must know that the choice of who rules Nigeria come 2027 can never be determined by him.”
The national chairman urged El-Rufai to stay away from NNPP issues, as the party was not an opposition to any other, including the APC.
He said the subject matter in Nigeria should be welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians through good governance, hard work, collaboration and observance of the rule of law.
