NPF Modernises Operational Fleet With Support From NPF-TF, PI-CNG, Sets Path For Green Energy Transition
In a significant step toward sustainable policing and enhanced operational efficiency, the Nigeria Police Force, on 21st April 2026, received three specialized buses from the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPF-TF) and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV).
The ceremony marks the official commencement of the transition toward green energy within the Nigeria Police Force.
The event was attended by a distinguished delegation from the NPF-TF, including Executive Secretary Mohammad Sheidu, CP Tony Emafale, Alhaji Sanusi Aliyu, QS Lawal Aliyu, and Oritsemi Banigo. Representing the PI-CNG & EV was its Chief Executive Officer, Barrister Ismail Ahmed, OON, alongside Mrs. Tari Mayor-Knight, Mr. Tosin Coker, Mrs. Omolara Obileye, Mrs. Hadiza Lawal, Onyekachi Eke, and Theodora Nwaodim.
At the event, the leadership of both organizations emphasized that this initial donation is merely the first step in a broader commitment to modernize the Police fleet. They announced a comprehensive plan to convert existing Police operational vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a move expected to drastically reduce fuel expenditure and the environmental impact of nationwide operations. Beyond the provision of hardware, the partnership focuses on long-term sustainability through intensive capacity building.
Responding to the gesture, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NPF-TF and the PI-CNG & EV for their visionary support. He noted that the transition to CNG and electric vehicles is a strategic necessity that aligns the Nigeria Police Force with global best practices in logistics and resource management.
The IGP assured that the new buses will be deployed to improve personnel welfare and mobility. He further emphasized that establishing internal conversion centres will enable the Police to independently maintain its fleet, ensuring sustained technological advancement.

NNPC Foundation Wins CSR Champion Award (Health)
NNPC Foundation Limited/Gte, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of NNPC Ltd. has won the CSR Champion Awar (Health) 2025 instituted by the Independent Newspapers. The award was presented during the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards, themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow,” held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
The CSR Champion Award (Health) recognises the Foundation’s work in healthcare and its broader commitment to improving lives through social investment programmes spanning health, education, environment, and access to energy.

The recognition follows a series of health initiatives delivered by the Foundation, including free cataract screening and surgeries that restored sight to over 6,000 Nigerians, including minors born blind; cancer and glaucoma interventions; medical outreaches to underserved communities; renovation and furnishing of three wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi; partnership and sponsorship of heart surgeries; and provision of dental health accessories to children in special schools, among others.
The NNPC Foundation noted that these results were made possible through the leadership and support of the NNPC Ltd. Management team, whose commitment has continued to strengthen the Foundation’s capacity to deliver social investments across the country.
Reacting to the award, the Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the recognition as a validation of the Foundation’s work and the trust placed in it by Nigerians. She noted that the award means so much to the company because it represents the confidence Nigerians have placed in its work and the value they see in purposeful social investment.
“It speaks to the resilience of the communities we serve, the dedication of our team, and the strength of partnerships that have enabled us to do meaningful work in health, education, environmental sustainability and access to energy,” she added.

In addition, Arukwe noted that “these results have also been made possible through the leadership and support of the NNPC Ltd. Management team, whose backing has been instrumental to the success of the Foundation’s work. We receive this award with gratitude, and with a renewed sense of responsibility to do more and reach further across the country.”

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on 22nd April 2026, attended the closing ceremony of the Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Training College, Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and operational effectiveness within the Nigeria Police Force.
During the visit, the IGP inspected key training facilities, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he participated in tactical exercises, demonstrating leadership by example and reinforcing the importance of continuous, scenario-based training in modern policing.

Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy currently undergoing training at the College, the Inspector-General charged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to the rigours of their training. He emphasized the importance of resilience, professionalism, and adherence to human rights principles, noting that the quality of their training will define their effectiveness and conduct in the field.
In his remarks at the closing ceremony, the IGP commended the Squadron Commanders for successfully completing the intensive training programme, urging them to translate the knowledge acquired into improved leadership, operational discipline, and tactical efficiency within their respective formations. He reiterated the need for the Police Mobile Force to remain a highly disciplined, responsive, and reliable tactical arm of the Force.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening operational capacity through strategic international partnerships, as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Marshal Zaeem Afzal, paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at Headquarters NAF, Abuja, on 22 April 2026.

The engagement underscores the NAF’s deliberate efforts to leverage strategic alliances to enhance mission effectiveness, interoperability, and sustained air power delivery in support of ongoing operations and national security objectives.
Describing the visit as timely and impactful, the CAS stated, “Our enduring partnership with the Pakistan Air Force continues to deliver tangible gains in training, capacity development, and operational effectiveness, directly reinforcing our ability to project decisive air power.”
Air Marshal Aneke further emphasised the importance of expanding existing cooperation frameworks while exploring new frontiers that would promote efficiency and self-reliance. He noted that the evolving security landscape demands deeper collaboration among allied air forces, adding, “We must sustain and broaden our areas of cooperation to enhance interoperability and ensure our forces remain agile, responsive, and mission-ready.” The CAS also expressed appreciation for the consistent support of the PAF, acknowledging its pivotal role in advancing the professional competence of NAF personnel and strengthening critical operational capabilities.

In his remarks, Air Marshal Zaeem Afzal commended the NAF for its professionalism and warm reception, describing the discussions as productive and forward-looking. He affirmed the PAF’s commitment to deepening the existing partnership, noting, “This visit provides a valuable opportunity to build on our shared history and further strengthen cooperation in ways that deliver practical and mutually beneficial outcomes.” The visit, which was attended by senior NAF officers and the Defence Adviser of Pakistan to Nigeria, Colonel Kamran Mushtaq, reinforces the shared resolve of both air forces to advance strategic collaboration in support of regional stability and global security.
