NAF Sustains Relentless Air Operations, Disrupts Terrorists Activities in Zamfara
When credible intelligence points to the movement of terrorists, the response begins with vigilance. On 12 August 2026, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deployed an A-Jet on an armed reconnaissance mission following intelligence on terrorist movements around the Bayarzaki River area of Zamfara State.

The aircraft conducted extensive surveillance over Bayarzaki and surrounding locations, including Ruwan Rana, Sabli, Kada Daba, Kwana Maje, Nasarawa, Rafin Gero, Ramfashi and Mumuma Hill. Further intelligence indicated the presence of suspected terrorists concealed south of the riverline, prompting the aircraft to engage the identified location from the air. No further movement was observed thereafter, as the aircraft maintained an aerial presence over the area before safely returning to base.
The mission exemplifies the NAF’s approach to intelligence-led airpower: detect, assess, act and remain present. Behind every sortie is a coordinated effort involving intelligence personnel, aircrew, mission planners, engineers, logistics personnel and other specialists working together to turn actionable information into timely air response. By maintaining persistent surveillance and responding decisively to emerging threats, the NAF continues to deny terrorist and other criminal elements the freedom to operate, while providing vital air support to surface forces engaged in ongoing security operations.

NAF
For Nigerians, particularly communities affected by insecurity, these operations represent the continued presence of a force determined to protect lives, secure communities and safeguard the nation. Day and night, NAF personnel remain on watch, flying into areas where threats emerge and working relentlessly alongside other security forces to create the conditions for peace and prosperity.
The skies remain active. The watch remains unbroken. And the Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in the service of the nation.
