List Of 7 Cases: Police Arrests 50 Suspects, Recovery Live Ammunitions
The Nigerian Police Force had announces the arrests 50 suspects, recovery live ammunitions. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, I welcome you to today’s Press Briefing. Today is yet another day that serves as testimonial of the endless and relentless efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in the pursuit of justice and apprehension of criminals connected to various forms of crime and criminality in our country.
The briefing today will highlight some of the notable achievements carried o ut by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department- Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), in several coordinated operations. In the period under review (From January up until today), these operatives have followed up on several gunrunning, kidnapping syndicates clandestine activities which have led to the recovery of several dangerous weapons and illicit drugs among other exhibits.
Today, we would be highlighting 7 cases which led to the arrest of 50 suspects, and the recovery of 17 rifles of various models, 111 live ammunitions of various calibers, 2 empty magazine, 17 live cartridges, 3 vehicles, 3 phones, 7 magazine, 5 walkie-talkies among other exhibits on display.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, KIDNAPPING AND BANDITRY.
SUSPECT: (1)
MUSA JIBRIN
EXHIBIT RECOVERED :
ONE (1) FNC RIFLE,
ONE(1) EMPTY MAGAZINE.
Operatives of the FID-IRT arrested one Musa Jibrin in connection with criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
The arrest followed an earlier operation on 26th December 2025, during which one FNC rifle and an empty magazine were recovered from the suspect.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect procured the firearm from one Bala, now at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice to recover additional weapons, while arrangements are being made to arraign the principal suspect in court.
ARREST OF FOUR (4) MEMBERS OF AN ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE AND RECOVERY OF ARMS

Operatives of the FID-IRT, acting on credible intelligence, arrested four members of an armed robbery syndicate on 3rd March 2026 in Benue State.
The suspects specialized in mounting fake police checkpoints to rob unsuspecting members of the public. Recovered from them were a locally fabricated rifle, a revolver pistol, live cartridges, and a complete Police Mobile Force uniform used as a decoy.
These suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang to recover additional weapons.
ARREST OF FOUR (4) NOTORIOUS SUSPECTS WHO SPECIALIZE IN ABDUCTION, EXTORTION, AND ROBBERY

Operatives of the FID-IRT, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Lucky Ogoibe, Chinedu Nwazak, Dorathy Ogu, and Nonso Uzo on 13th March 2026 along Deidei/Kubwa Expressway, FCT-Abuja.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in multiple cases of abduction, ‘‘one chance’’ extortion, robbery, and attempted murder within and around the FCT. The exhibits recovered were linked to their criminal activities, including property belonging to one of their victims, Chisom Oguno. Effort is on to apprehend other members of the syndicate to recover additional operational assets.
ARREST OF THREE (3) KINGPINS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KILLINGS OF THREE POLICEMEN IN DONGA, TARABA STATE

Operatives of the FID-IRT, acting on credible human and technical intelligence, arrested Shagari Ali and Sule Abdullahi on 29th March 2026 in Akake Village, Donga LGA, Taraba State.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are the brain behind the killing of three policemen attached to Donga Divisional Police Headquarters on 18th March 2026, and have been linked to other violent attacks and crises in Takum LGA.
Meanwhile, investigation to apprehend other fleeing suspects and recover their operational weapons continues.

Following the attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C) in Eruku Town, Ekiti LGA of Kwara State on 20th November2025, operatives of the IRT, acting on credible human and technical intelligence, conducted coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi States. Preliminary investigation revealed that the gang was involved in criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, arms dealing, and acts of terrorism which prima facie case has been established.
The gang members were arrested at multiple locations including Gbugbu, Ora-Ago, Baballa, Kaiama, Awi, Charagi, Patigi, and Okeode. During operations, the suspects abandoned an anti-aircraft rifle and three AK-47 rifles, which were subsequently recovered by the police. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend any fleeing members of the gang to recover additional operational weapons.
6. ARREST OF SUSPECT IN CONNECTION WITH ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARM
SUSPECT: (1)
NASIRU IBRAHIM, 25YRS
EXHIBIT RECOVERED:
ONE (1) AK-47 RIFLE,
ONE (1) AK-47 RIFLE MAGAZINE,
& EIGHT (8) ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION
Operatives of the FID-IRT, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Nasiru Ibrahim in Benue State and One (1) Ak-47 Rifle, one (1) Magazine, And Eight (8) Rounds of Live Ammunition were found in his possession.

Police
Preliminary investigation revealed that Nasiru Ibrahim is linked to a known bandit identified as Janari, who allegedly sold the AK-47 rifle to him approximately two years ago for the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦1,500,000).
Further investigation revealed that Nasiru Ibrahim operates within the Igumale area of Benue State.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Janari and other members of the syndicate to recover additional weapons.
ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND CAR BURGLARY/THEFT

EXHIBIT RECOVERED:
ONE (1) LOCALLY FABRICATED MASTER KEY
Operatives of the FID-IRT, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Chimezie Uzo outside the Wuse Magistrate Court premises, Abuja.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Chimezie Uzo operates with an accomplice, one Elvis Nkala, who is currently at large, and that the duo specializes in breaking into parked vehicles and stealing valuables for resale.
Further findings indicate that Chimezie Uzo has beent involved in this criminal activity for about three years and had previously been arrested in 2023.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and recover additional exhibits.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, the Force will continue to strengthen its investigative capabilities and collaborate with other law enforcement partners, we remain steadfast in our mission to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of every citizen.

Lagos CP Fatai Tijani
The commissioner of police in Lagos, Fatai Tijani, has visited the scene of a road crash that claimed the life of a student of the Lagos State University, assuring that justice will be served.
The command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night.
Mr Tijani, alongside other senior officers of the command, carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the scene.
Ms Adebisi said that the police team also engaged representatives of the Students’ Union of LASU during the visit.
She said that Mr Tijani commended the students for their orderly and responsible conduct, in spite of the grief over the loss of their colleague.
“He assured them that the suspect involved in the incident would be charged to court on Monday for proper prosecution,” she said.
The spokesperson, consequently, reiterated the command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the safety of all residents.
She also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
The CP’s visit followed the death of a 300-level female student, Azeezat Abdul-Rasheed, who was crushed by a vehicle at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Igando area of the same state.

In a video shared on X by a student of LASU, @Khennybass, some students were seen storming the Area M Police Division at Idimu.
They had alleged that officers were shielding the driver involved in the incident by attempting to cover up the situation.
They had, consequently, demanded justice for their colleague.

False terror alert in FCT,. The Nigeria Police Force wishes to categorically debunk a viral video circulating on social media alleging an ongoing terrorist attack in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The Force states unequivocally that no such incident occurred, and the claims contained in the video are entirely false, misleading, and malicious.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the video was deliberately curated using misleading footage sourced from online platforms to construct a false narrative aimed at causing panic, inciting public fear, and undermining public confidence in the security architecture of the nation’s capital.
In furtherance of its commitment to maintaining public order, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested one Pam Joseph in connection with the creation and dissemination of the false content. The arrest followed credible intelligence and digital forensic investigations linking the suspect to the origin and circulation of the video.
The Force reiterates that while citizens have the right to freedom of expression, such rights do not extend to the deliberate spread of misinformation capable of threatening public peace and national security. Members of the public are therefore advised to verify information before sharing and to refrain from engaging in activities that may incite fear or disorder.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to safeguarding public order and national security, and will continue to monitor digital spaces and take decisive action against individuals who engage in the dissemination of false or misleading information.

IGP Receives Civil Society Delegations, Vows Tougher Police Accountability Mechanism
Tougher police accountability mechanism. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, today received a distinguished delegation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) led by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The delegation comprised prominent figures from the legal, human rights, governance, and security reform sectors. Notable members included Mr. Femi Falana, SAN; Mr. Adesina Oke, Esq. of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADL); Barr. Okeke Chinwike of the African Law Foundation (AFRILAW); Mr. Barbara S. Magaji of Amnesty International; Mr. Anietie Ewang of Human Rights Watch (HRW); Mr. Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa; Mr. Bathsheba Taglia of CISLAC/Transparency International Nigeria; Mrs. Kemi Okenyodo, Executive Director of Partners West Africa-Nigeria (PWAN); and Dr. Itia Otabor of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD).
In his remarks, Femi Falana SAN congratulated IGP Disu on his appointment and commended his vision of policing as a mission rooted in the protection of human rights. He urged strict compliance with the Nigeria Police Act 2020, particularly provisions on family notification upon arrest, suspects’ rights to legal representation, and the prohibition of arrests for civil wrongs. Falana further called for stronger accountability measures to ensure officers respect constitutional guarantees and are held liable in cases of misconduct.
Responding, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu expressed deep appreciation for the engagement of civil society and reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered policing. He emphasized that effective policing must address both major crimes and the everyday concerns of citizens.

IGP Receives Civil Society Delegations
The IGP assured the delegation of ongoing reforms, including updated training manuals, improved officer welfare, and strict directives against interference in civil matters. The IGP pledged transparency and accountability and committed to improving the Complaint Response Unit and Monitoring Unit.
The Inspector-General expressed confidence that effective policing is attainable and reaffirmed that the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in prioritizing accountability, transparency, and the protection of human rights across all its operations.
