Information Minister Mohammed Idris Mourns Garkuwan Kontagora, Ibrahim Wali
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed profound sadness over the death of prominent Niger State political figure, community leader and philanthropist, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora.

The Minister described the late Wali as a close associate, trusted friend and distinguished son of Niger State whose life was marked by generosity, loyalty and an abiding commitment to the progress of his people.
“I have received with profound sadness the news of the passing of my dear friend and brother, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora. His death is a deeply personal loss to me and a painful one for the people of Kontagora Emirate and Niger State,” the Minister said.
Idris said the late Garkuwan Kontagora distinguished himself through years of service to his community, using his influence and resources to support people and advance causes that improved lives.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Wali was a man of the people in the truest sense. He understood that privilege and influence carried a responsibility to uplift others. He touched many lives through his philanthropy, support for education, empowerment of the less privileged and commitment to the development of his community.
“As Garkuwan Kontagora, he carried his traditional responsibility with dignity and devotion. He remained deeply connected to the aspirations of the people and was a respected voice on matters affecting Kontagora Emirate and Niger State.
“I will personally miss his friendship, his counsel, his warmth and his remarkable ability to build bridges across different segments of society. We have lost a dependable friend and a patriot who genuinely desired the progress of his people,” said Idris.

The Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora and the entire Kontagora Emirate, as well as the government and people of Niger State.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Garkuwan Kontagora, reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family and all those affected by the loss the fortitude to bear his passing.

How Midnight Fire Razes Sokoto NLC Office
Amidnight fire outbreak at the state secretariat of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Sokoto State has consumed properties and documents.
It was gathered that the fire started around 3 a.m., destroying the office and other properties in the building.

The NLC state secretary, Hamisu Hussaini, said the fire was likely caused by an electrical fault, describing the damage as extensive, with no item recovered from the razed building.
“The inferno consumed office equipment, including computers, printers, refrigerators, televisions and furniture, as well as vital documents spanning over 30 years,” he said.

Mr Hussaini added that the watchman on duty was unable to contain the fire as it spread rapidly through the building.
The firefighters were said to arrive at the scene late but eventually brought the blaze under control.

Terrorists Kill Many Of Adamawa Residents In Gombi Attack
Many of residents were killed after terrorists invaded Guyaku and Telabala communities in Gombi LGA of Adamawa on Sunday.
The attack followed a violent raid on Mayo Ladde in the Hong local council.
Governor Umaru Fintiri, who visited the scene on Monday to assess the situation, described the attack as heartbreaking.
“My heart breaks for the people of Guyaku in Gombi LGA. Today, I stood on the ground where our brothers and sisters were cruelly taken from us. This act of cowardice is an affront to our humanity and will not go unpunished,” said the Adamawa governor.
While commiserating with victims of the attack, Mr Fintiri assured residents that the government and security agencies were on top of the situation and would ensure their protection.

“To the bereaved families: Adamawa mourns with you. To the attackers: justice is coming. We are intensifying security operations immediately to restore peace and ensure every resident feels safe in their home again. We will rebuild, and we will remain resilient,” he stated.

Terrorists Attack
Meanwhile, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has claimed responsibility for the killings.
A report by Reuters stated that the terrorist organisation confirmed attacking the communities in a statement on Telegram on Monday.
