Impeached Obasa resumed as Lagos Assembly speaker. Impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has announced his return as the parliament’s leader.

Obasa made this declaration on Thursday after arriving at the Assembly complex with armed security operatives.

“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” he stated.

Obasa was removed from office on January 13, 2025, by Lagos lawmakers over allegations of misappropriation while he was in the United States.

Following his impeachment, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda was appointed and sworn in as his replacement.

However, upon his return, Obasa challenged his removal, arguing that due process was not followed in his impeachment.
