Imam Eleha Dismisses Christian Genocide Claim, Says No Religious Conflict In Yorubaland
Imam Eleha dismisses Christian genocide claim, says no religious conflict in Yorubaland. Imran Abdulmajeed Eleha, a Nigerian imam, has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s claim of a Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Last month, Trump redesignated Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ in response to allegations of a Christian genocide in the country.
He blamed radical Islamists for the “mass slaughter” of Christians in Nigeria and asked the United States department of war to prepare for “possible action” to wipe them out in Africa’s most populous country.

Speaking on the matter in a Friday sermon, the Islamic cleric warned against spreading such rhetoric in the southern region of Nigeria, noting that Muslims and Christians have been coexisting peacefully without rancour.
“They are bringing the same narrative to Yorubaland that Christians are being killed. All those killed in Kwara state, were they Christians? They have destroyed many communities. Those behind this agenda should let us know their motive,” the cleric told the congregation.
“They should not use Christian genocide as a cover. They should come out clean with their motive.
” Let me tell you story; when I wanted to establish a school after a year, I bought the land on which this Jumah Mosque is built; my pastor friend sold the land to me. The pastor has a church nearby and said, ‘Why don’t you construct your school here, and I will sell the land to you.
“Don’t you see how we usually stop and exchange pleasantries and gist for long? He’s doing his pastor there, and I’m doing my imam here.
“There is no fight. The day my daughter wedded, he came with his Bible, and we sat together. His children address me as ‘daddy’. There has never been any misunderstanding between us since.
“All the Christians in this neighbourhood, we have never had misunderstandings, or have you ever heard of such before, except if they would direct you to where to park your car — all you who are coming for Jumah prayer. That is how Yorubaland is. Am I lying?
“If you search your family background well, there are many Christians there. There is no family you would examine in Yorubaland without you seeing an uncle or aunt who is Christian. And they are family. So, why are we fighting?”
‘VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA NOT ROOTED IN RELIGION’
Speaking on the alleged persecution of Christians in the country, the imam highlighted the complex nature of violence in Nigeria, adding that the conflict is not rooted in religion but rather in criminal activities such as banditry and resource control.
“I don’t know where they got the fake news. You’re not concerned about religion. Saying Christians are being killed in Nigeria — were the people killed in Kwara Christians?” he said.
“Imams who were killed in the north — were they not Muslims? The issue of bandits and Boko Haram is not about religion. People are mining gold and others are after money; those are the causes, not religion.
“Muslims who were killed — aren’t they more than Christians? In places where bandits operate, 75 percent of the people are Muslims.”
Eleha pointed out that violence affects both Muslims and Christians, noting that many victims in northern Nigeria are Muslims.
The imam urged Nigerians and the international community to avoid framing the conflict in religious terms, which he warned could deepen divisions and hinder efforts toward peace.
Eleha urged the US not to invade Nigeria, adding that there is no conflict between Muslims and Christians in the country.

Imam Eleha Dismisses Christian Genocide Claim
“It’s none of your concern. We are not fighting. Stay where you are and leave us be. If you want to talk trade, we are open to that. We are not fighting,” he said.
“We need prayers because when they enter a country, that country will never have peace again. We are not going to experience war. When they fight in one country, a rich person may find himself in a refugee camp.
“The US is testing us with talks of war and destruction. We don’t need that. There is no country without misunderstandings; we will take care of ours. Pastors should tell them we are not fighting. Because if they come in, you will not be spared either. They are not fighting for you; they have their own mission.”

TIB Movement Demands Justice Over Former APC Women Leader Jamima Dutse Murdered at Her Bauchi Residence
TIB Movement Demands Justice Over Former APC Women Leader Jamima Dutse Murdered at Her Bauchi Residence
The Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement, Bauchi State Chapter, has condemned the murder of Mrs. Jamima J. Dutse, a former Zonal Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi South, and called on security agencies to immediately investigate the killing.

Dutse was reportedly attacked and killed by unknown assailants at her residence in Bauchi. In a statement dated October 4, 2026, signed by its Bauchi State Coordinator, Nazif Bashi, the TIB Movement expressed shock and outrage over the killing and commiserated with Dutse’s family, friends and associates.
The group described the killing as a “senseless act of violence” and said it raised concerns about the safety of residents in the state. “A society where citizens regardless of their political affiliations, gender, or status, cannot feel safe in their own homes is one on the brink of breakdown,” the group said.
It said the attack was not only against Dutse and her family but also against the peace, security and democratic fabric of Bauchi State.
The TIB Movement called on the Bauchi State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
It demanded the immediate constitution of what it described as a “dedicated, high-powered investigative panel” to investigate the murder.
The group also urged the security agencies to maintain transparent communication with Dutse’s family and the public by providing timelines and periodic updates on the progress of the investigation.

Breaking News
“Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done,” the statement said. “Those responsible for this murder must be brought to book and face the full wrath of the law to serve as a stern deterrent to criminal elements across the state.”
The group further called on the Bauchi State Government and security authorities to strengthen local security measures, surveillance and intelligence gathering across Bauchi metropolis and neighbouring local government areas.
The TIB Movement said such measures were necessary to address what it described as a rising tide of violent attacks in the state.
It also appealed to civil society organisations, trade unions, human rights defenders and residents of Bauchi State to demand accountability until those responsible for Dutse’s death are arrested and prosecuted. “The Take-It-Back Movement reaffirms its commitment to advocating for the rights, safety, and justice of all citizens,” it said.
“Silence in the face of tyranny and insecurity is complicity.”
