IGP Disu Closes Operational Course, Charges Officers To Embrace Innovation, Drive Police Reforms

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has charged Superintendents and Chief Superintendents of Police to embrace innovation, strengthen professionalism, and champion ongoing reform efforts within the Nigeria Police Force as he declared closed the Operational Change and Leadership (OCL) Course held at the Nigeria Police Institute, Jabi, Abuja.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the five-day programme on Friday, 5th June 2026, the IGP emphasized that effective policing in today’s complex security environment requires leaders who are adaptable, accountable, technologically driven, and capable of responding to emerging threats and evolving public expectations.

He urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the course to improve leadership practices, operational effectiveness, professionalism, respect for human rights, and service delivery within their Commands and Formations.

The IGP further encouraged them to serve as ambassadors of positive change by promoting intelligence-led policing, evidence-based decision-making, and technology-enabled crime prevention strategies.

AFWCN Forges Stronger Defence Ties, Advances Security And Technology Engagement In Tanzania

The Air Force War College Nigeria (AFWCN) delegation undertook an International Study Tour to the United Republic of Tanzania as part of efforts to deepen strategic understanding of contemporary security dynamics and emerging defence technologies.

During a visit to the Dr Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations, participants of Air War Course 12/2026 engaged in presentations and discussions on the theme, “Integrating Emerging Technologies for National Security.”

The engagement provided valuable insights into defence diplomacy, regional security architecture, joint security cooperation and the application of innovative technologies to enhance national defence capabilities and operational effectiveness.

In furtherance of bilateral defence relations and strategic military collaboration, the delegation paid courtesy visits to the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces Headquarters and the Nigeria High Commission in Tanzania.

Discussions centred on strengthening defence cooperation, enhancing military-to-military relations, addressing regional security challenges and exploring opportunities for greater collaboration in promoting regional peace and stability.

The delegation also visited the Tanzania Automotive Technology Centre (TATC), where members gained firsthand exposure to advancements in indigenous automotive technology, defence innovation and industrial capabilities that support force mobility, logistics and broader national security objectives.

Speaking during the engagements, the Exercise Director and Commandant of the Air Force War College Nigeria, Air Vice Marshal GA Mbaka, expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Tanzania for the warm hospitality extended to the delegation.

He conveyed the goodwill and esteemed regards of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Nigerian Air Force to strengthening strategic partnerships, deepening defence cooperation and advancing collective security initiatives in support of peace, stability and sustainable development across the African continent.

EFCC, INEC To Collaborate Towards Ensuring Credible Elections In 2027

The EFCC and INEC have agreed to partner together towards ensuring credible and transparent election in the 2027 general election. This understanding was reached on Tuesday June 9, 2027 when the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Obo Etfanga paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

The State REC who was recently deployed to Edo State said he sought to engage with critical stakeholders including Law Enforcement Agencies as the 2027 general election approaches. Aside the engagement with critical stakeholders, he said the visit was to explore areas of further collaboration while noting that the EFCC has always played significant role in seeking to curtail vote buying during elections.

In a related development, the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN, also paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission. Ibukun Akande, Chairman of the Institute, Edo State Branch, said the visit was to seek areas of collaboration with the EFCC as the Commission’s mandate is to deal with economic and financial crimes which often revolves around banks and bankers.

While the Acting Zonal Director, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, noted that the Commission will continue to partner with INEC in discharging its mandate of curtailing incidence of vote buying before and during the election, he thanked CIBN leadership for the visit, noting that the Commission will always collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes in the country.

IGP Disu Receives MACBAN Leadership, Calls For Peaceful Coexistence And Enhanced Security Collaboration

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting all law-abiding citizens and fostering stronger collaboration with critical stakeholders in promoting peace, security, and national development.

The IGP made this known on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, when he received the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), led by its National President, Alhaji Baba Othman Ngelzarma, during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Welcoming the delegation, the Inspector-General acknowledged the important role of the livestock sector in the nation’s economy and stressed the need for continuous partnership between communities and security agencies in addressing security challenges. He emphasized that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through mutual trust, dialogue, respect for the rule of law, and timely sharing of credible information.

IGP Disu urged all stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence among communities and remain committed to lawful conduct in their activities. He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains impartial in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities and will continue to uphold the rights of all citizens while ensuring that anyone found engaging in criminal acts is dealt with in accordance with the law.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the National President of MACBAN congratulated the Inspector-General on his appointment and commended the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force towards strengthening professionalism, accountability, and public confidence in policing. He reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and continued collaboration with security agencies in support of national security and stability.
