Corruption: Ex-Gov Udom Emmanuel’ Aide Reacts To Allegations

The ex-Governor Udom Emmanuel’ aide reacts to llegations . The Media Assistant to Mr Udom Emmanuel, the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Barr Steven Abia has reacted to media reports of corruption allegations by a group Network Against Corruption and Trafficking, NACAT.

He described allegations of corruption levelled against the former Akwa Ibom governor as malicious and baseless.

Abia said the faceless group should be ignored by all as the allegations against Udom Emmanuel.

He said “It is clear some people want to reap where they did not sow. The immediate past Governor, HE Udom Emmanuel is a meticulous man. Every single project executed during his administration from day one to the last day has the record neatly saved.

“From the approval to the retirement stage, they are properly documented. So, I want us to disregard and discountenance the allegation, which is going around social media. Let us, as a people, take time to investigate because the records are there.”

“The immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State has been maliciously accused, so we are here to tell you that those allegations against my boss are unfounded. So I implore you, Akwa Ibom people to disregard, what they are saying. Those allegations are not true.

The people saying those things don’t even have the facts. “They are faceless people from nowhere trying to dent his reputation. We have never heard of that name. You will agree with me that this NACAT never existed before now, so you can’t even trace them. The name just came up to dent this man. And some people blackmail politicians to make money. We know some people benefit from doing this kind of thing.

“My boss did his work very well. Throughout his time he touched every area in Akwa Ibom State. There’s no place that we did not have projects executed. The documents are here before you. The facts are here and we have loads of them. And that endeared him to the people. Our people love him.”

To back up his claims, Barr Abia displayed some documents containing all the projects approved and executed under the last administration described former governor Emmanuel as an accountable, sincere and straightforward political leader.

” This is a man who keeps records meticulously. And then the papers as you have seen, every single project executed throughout his tenure, from day one to the last day, the records are there, and they are excellently kept. So my boss is unperturbed. He worked with an audit firm so he knows his left from his right.

“The man is unruffled. There’s no cause for alarm. And I want to tell you that we have not received any petition, notice or letter from any of the anti-graft agencies. All we are reacting to is what you have also seen on social media. That’s all..And we are expecting that the ICPC and the EFCC go ahead and do their work fairly”

Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno New Year Address

Umo Eno Unveils Plan Reclaimed Akwa Ibom Community Dumpsite

Umo Eno unveils plan reclaimed Akwa Ibom community dumpsite. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has disclosed plans to transform the reclaimed Uyo Village refuse dump-site into a modern Government Residential Area, comprising of a creative village, and a housing estate, to reduce housing deficit in the State.

The Governor made this known Tuesday, January 6, 2026, while fielding questions from the Government House Correspondents immediately after his inspection of the reclaimed dump-site spanning over 100 hectares of land alongside the ravine prone landscape that has been sand-filled for future development.

“The truth is, with vision and foresight, we can do a lot. You won’t believe this was a terrible refuse dump-site. Today, we have reclaimed it all, over a 100 hectares of land to be used for housing, agriculture, and more.”

He added that the whole area has been reclaimed and mapped out for proper development purposes with appropriate water channels.

The Governor revealed that the ravine will be adequately transformed “to contain Uyo GRA first with about 150 middle-class housing; and the creative village with a spur to link them all.”

He said the project is strategically designed to open up previously unusable land, address erosion challenges and create new development corridors for housing, agriculture and creative industry, all within close proximity to the Uyo city centre.

“This project is about reclaiming valuable land close to the city centre and deliberately deploying it for the benefit of our people,” Governor Eno said.

He explained that his decision to visit the site was informed by the need to physically examine the road design and fully appreciate the scope of work being executed by the contractors beyond technical presentations earlier made in his office.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress so far achieved, the Governor noted that the area, once used as a dump site, has been successfully reclaimed as part of efforts to support government long-term urban development policy.

He once again, urged contractors handling government projects to ensure timely delivery and quality execution noting that the Uyo village road project will address housing deficit and would contain middle-income housing and other strategic residential developments.

“We are committed to ensuring that every square meter of this reclaimed land serves the people of Akwa Ibom,” he said.

Speaking further, Governor Eno said the various projects being embarked on by the government are opening up significant job opportunities for youths and local workers, urging the youth to embrace the opportunities and uphold the culture of hard work, emphasizing that, deliberate infrastructural development could serve as a catalyst for economic growth.
