Anti-Corruption Unit Of Kaduna Polytechnic Pledges Integrity Drive During ICPC Visit

The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of Kaduna Polytechnic has reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out corruption and other related offences such as plagiarism, examination malpractice and s3xual harassment within the institution, following a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The delegation, comprising three ACTU members, was received at the ICPC’s state office by the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), Mr Sakaba Ishaku, alongside senior officials of the Commission.

The visit sought to deepen collaboration between the polytechnic’s ACTU and the ICPC, with a focus on embedding transparency, accountability and integrity across the academic community.

Welcoming the team, Mr Ishaku commended the ACTU members for their dedication to anti-corruption efforts and urged them to serve as worthy ambassadors of probity in both academic and social settings.

He issued a stern warning against plagiarism, stressing that academic dishonesty undermines intellectual growth and damages institutional credibility. “Plagiarism weakens the very foundation of learning,” he said.

The RACC also described examination malpractice as a grave threat to educational standards and national development, calling on students to embrace hard work, discipline and honesty in their pursuits.

Turning to the issue of s3xual harassment, Mr Ishaku expressed deep concern over its prevalence in educational institutions. He encouraged ACTU members to promote mutual respect, moral responsibility and ethical conduct among peers and staff, while actively supporting efforts to eradicate all forms of abuse and exploitation within the learning environment.

Speaking on behalf of the polytechnic’s ACTU, the Unit’s Chairperson thanked the ICPC for its warm reception and invaluable guidance. She assured the Commission that the Unit would stand firm against corruption in all its manifestations and would uphold integrity whenever corrupt practices are encountered.

She appealed to the ICPC to support the Unit through regular training programmes, workshops and sensitisation campaigns aimed at building members’ capacity and strengthening anti-corruption awareness across the institution.

Also addressing the gathering, the Assistant Commissioner and Head of Investigation at the ICPC Kaduna State Office, Mr Abubakar Jibril, charged the ACTU members to internalise a culture of integrity, fairness, accountability and dedication.

“The fight against corruption requires collective responsibility and active participation from young people, especially students, who represent the future of our nation,” Mr Jibril said.

NAF Precision Air Strikes Neutralise Terrorists, Disrupt Attack Plans In Niger

The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 1 recorded significant operational successes against terrorist elements during a series of intelligence-led kinetic operations conducted between 20 and 23 May 2026 across Rafi and Mariga Local Government Areas of Niger State.

On 20 May 2026, following credible intelligence on the movement and convergence of terrorists around Tungan Bako and Kasuwan Daji in Rafi LGA, the Air Component in conjunction with the Nigerian Army Space Command Regiment executed precision air interdiction strikes which successfully neutralised several terrorists and effectively disrupted their operational build-up within the area.

Similarly, on 21 May 2026, terrorists moving on motorcycles and on foot with rustled cattle from Tungunguna towards Uregi were positively identified and engaged, resulting in their neutralisation and the destruction of their movement and withdrawal capability. On same day, the Air Component also provided close air support to troops in contact with terrorists at Tungan Makeri, successfully engaging the terrorists and restoring operational advantage to friendly forces.

In continuation of sustained offensive operations, the Air Component conducted armed reconnaissance missions on 23 May 2026 over Dogon Dawa and adjoining locations in Mariga LGA following reports of planned terrorist attacks on troop positions.

Terrorist elements observed attempting tactical movement within the area were swiftly acquired and engaged with precision strikes, leading to the successful neutralisation of a significant number of the terrorists and the disruption of the planned attacks.

Post-strike assessments confirmed the effectiveness of the missions in degrading terrorist capabilities and denying the terrorists freedom of action within the general area. Reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering resolve to defend the nation and protect the lives of Nigerians in collaboration with other security agencies.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the professionalism and precision of the personnel involved, while assuring Nigerians that the NAF will continue to sustain aggressive, intelligence-driven air operations aimed at neutralising terrorist threats, protecting innocent lives and restoring lasting peace across all troubled regions.
