Akwa Ibom Ex-Gov Udom Emmanuel Back From EFCC, Says It Was Honourable Invitation

Akwa Ibom ex-gov Udom Emmanuel back from EFCC, says it was honourable invitation.Yesterday, in what was purely a routine affair, the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, CON, honoured the invitation by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This, he did, seamlessly in his undaunted spirit of patriotism and sense of responsibility.

It is worth emphasizing here that this invitation has been extended to thousands of Nigerians, both the rich and the not-so-rich, political and corporate titans. An invitation, therefore, is not a conviction. .

But a section of the media, egged on by Mr. Emmanuel’s traducers and political adversaries, has made the invitation seem like he was convicted. Dispassionate minds need to note the elementary distinctions between an invitation and honouring same, and an arrest which demands some legal mechanics.

Mr. Udom Emmanuel had since yesterday evening left the EFCC headquarters in Abuja to his home. He was not detained, it must be emphasized, as was reported yesterday by a section of the press.

As a statesman, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is open to interactions within the confines of the law as one who has nothing to hide dreads no query.

Mr. Udom Emmanuel presided over a robust growth in Akwa Ibom State. He faced two harsh economic environments: the economic meltdown that occurred shortly after he was sworn-in in 2015, which saw the price of oil drop to historic lows, and the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the world shortly after he was sworn in for a second term.

In spite of these, he presided over eight years of economic growth that saw many expansions in the infrastructural profile of the state, earning Akwa Ibom the singular distinction of the state with the best road
network of all the subnationals in the nation.

He established Ibom Air, which today, has been adjudged the best airline in Nigeria, and ran a deeply transparent government where the budgets and government expenditures were regularly published.

His performance was applauded across party lines, leading to the award of the Commander of the Order of Nigeria (CON) bestowed on him by the immediate past President and Commander-in-Chief, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, despite being a Governor elected on the platform of the PDP.

The teeming admirers of the unassuming personality, a God— fearing leader, blessed with a peaceful disposition and nationally celebrated superlative performance which Mr. Udom Emmanuel epitomized while he was the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, should, disregard the antics of detractors. God did not only call Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON to lead Akwa Ibom State at the time He did, He qualified him, squarely leading to the legacy of impact he left in Akwa Ibom State.

Let this media feeding frenzy stop now; Udom Emmanuel is an icon of transparency and integrity.

Akwa Ibom Governor Eno Commends Quality Job Delivery By Contractors At Project Sites

Governor Umo Eno has expressed satisfaction with the quality and timely delivery of jobs by contractors at different project sites in the State.

Fielding questions from Government House Correspondents shortly after his inspection of the projects, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards ensuring that projects are properly monitored and appropriately funded in line with the contract agreement.

He explained that the routine on-the spot inspection avails him the opportunity to carry out critical assessment of key projects, monitor project timeliness, staff welfare, pace and quality of job execution and funding approvals.

“Mine is to make sure that the work is going on, we get our money’s worth, ensure contractors are on site and that they are doing what they are supposed to do.

“This inspection, for me, is to give me an on-the spot assessment, monitor our time lines. Everywhere I went to, I can tell you that I am satisfied at the pace of work, and the quality of work done,” he stated.

The Governor thanked the contractors for their commitment to their jobs, and urged them to keep to timelines and specifications while prioritizing the safety and welfare of staff.

“I belief that the contractors know that we will demand that they do the work according to our specification.

“I am not just checking the work, I also check the staff, to ensure that everything is going on well. So when I get an IPC on my desk, I know exactly what that payment voucher is addressing. All of these works you see me inspect today, I have payment vouchers waiting for me to sign off.

“So, I have to come to see and be sure that they have reached certain levels before we can make the next set of payments.”

Senator Aniekan Bassey Advances Rural Infrastructure, Economic Opportunities In Akwa Ibom Community

Rural infrastructure. Esuk Odu Beach has historically served as a vital fishing settlement and trading hub for coastal communities in Uruan. Over the years, it has remained a center for the exchange of dried fish, palm oil, and indigenous crafts, sustaining livelihoods across the region.

Despite its calm waters and scenic appeal, qualities that position it as a promising leisure and tourism destination, the area’s economic potential remained largely underutilized due to prolonged infrastructural deficits.

This trajectory is now being transformed through the ongoing construction of the 3.96km Adadia–Ekim Enen–Esuk Odu Beach Road, a project facilitated by Senator Aniekan Bassey in alignment with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda on infrastructure development.

Upon completion, the road will establish a direct and dependable transport corridor, significantly reducing travel time and logistics costs for farmers, fishermen, and residents of Uruan and adjoining communities. By linking inland agricultural zones with Issiet Market and extending to Esuk Odu’s coastal trade routes, the project will enhance the efficient movement of goods and services.

Improved accessibility is expected to stimulate growth across key sectors, including fisheries, aquaculture, sand mining, and small-scale tourism. It will enable farmers to transport perishable produce more efficiently, minimize post-harvest losses, and provide traders with a safer, more reliable supply chain. Furthermore, the improved infrastructure is likely to attract private sector investment in hospitality, recreation, and related services, thereby generating employment and boosting local economic activity.

Residents, including farmers and fishermen, have expressed deep appreciation to Senator Aniekan Bassey for facilitating the project, describing it as a long-awaited solution to persistent mobility challenges. Beyond improved access, they view the road as a symbol of renewed economic prospects and inclusive development.
