CAS Strengthen Commitment To Personnel Welfare As NAFRC Commandant Pays Courtesy Visit
CAS strengthen commitment to personnel welfare as NAFRC commandant pays courtesy visit. The Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force on 9 February 2026, as part of his post-resumption engagements with key Armed Forces stakeholders.
During the visit, the Commandant congratulated the CAS on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff and expressed appreciation for his own appointment, pledging to justify the confidence placed in him. He explained that he deliberately chose the Nigerian Air Force as his first stakeholder engagement, citing its strategic importance and enduring cooperation with the Centre. He further disclosed that about 200 Nigerian Air Force personnel were currently undergoing resettlement training at NAFRC, with additional participants expected under the Empretech programme, while respectfully soliciting continued support in addressing institutional challenges when formally presented.
Responding, Air Marshal Aneke warmly described the visit as timely and significant, underscoring the strategic relevance of NAFRC in preparing retiring and disengaging personnel for productive civilian life. He emphasised that equipping personnel with vocational, technical and entrepreneurial skills sustains morale, reinforces discipline and guarantees dignity beyond service.
According to the CAS, “human capital remains our most critical asset, and preparing our personnel for a meaningful life after service is a responsibility we must pursue deliberately and collectively.” He noted that the Centre’s mandate aligns seamlessly with his Command Philosophy of standardised training and mission-focused capability development, reinforcing the Nigerian Air Force’s welfare-driven approach to leadership.

NAFRC Commandant
Both leaders expressed optimism about expanding collaboration in skills acquisition, capacity building and structured transition programmes for retiring airmen and airwomen. The CAS assured the Commandant of the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering support, stressing that a well-empowered veteran population contributes directly to national productivity, social stability and long-term development.
The engagement ultimately projected a strong synergy between institutional welfare and national security, highlighting how inter-service cooperation strengthens not only operational readiness but also Nigeria’s broader development architecture.

ADC Reacts To INEC’s Interpretation Of Appeal Court Statement
ADC Reacts To INEC’s Interpretation Of Appeal Court Statement
Appeal court statement. The African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has rejected INEC’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal ruling, alleging that the electoral body acted under pressure from a government panicked by the opposition momentum despite its efforts to destroy all opposition parties and foist a one-party rule on Nigeria.
The party described INEC’s position as contradictory and inconsistent with facts, insisting that it would publicly clarify these issues, while warning that the commission has effectively sided with the government against Nigerians. ADC said it is currently reviewing its options and will announce its next steps soon, urging its members and the public to remain steadfast as events unfold.
The full statement read:
We reject INEC’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal ruling. We knew that INEC was being pressured by a government that has become jittery from the ADC’s rising momentum even in the face of its relentless assault on all opposition parties.

ADC
INEC’s press statement is full of contradictions that fly in the face of both facts and reason. We shall clarify these contradictions for all to see. What is clear, however, is that INEC has caved to pressure and has chosen to side with the government against the Nigerian people.
We are currently reviewing our options, and we shall make these known soon.
Meanwhile, we call on our members and all Nigerians to remain steadfast as they await further directives.
Nigeria is rising. ADC is rising.
Signed:
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi National Publicity Secretary African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Court: Emefiele Violated CBN Act in Naira Redesign Exercise-Witness
Court: Emefiele Violated CBN Act in Naira Redesign Exercise-Witness
Naira redesign. The Seventh Prosecution Witness, PW7, Chinedu Eneanya, in the trial of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, told Justice Maryanne Anineh of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, that Emefiele violated the provisions of the CBN Act in the 2022 naira redesign exercise.
Emefiele is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a four-count charge, bordering on the alleged unlawful printing of new naira notes.
Testifying under cross-examination by defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, at Wednesday’s proceedings, the witness disclosed that “the investigation conducted by the team showed that the defendant disobeyed the provisions of the CBN Act, 2007. The Central Bank must have board recommendations before the currency is redesigned.”
Further in his testimony, the witness disclosed that Emefiele presented three sample designs of the proposed naira notes in the denominations of N1000, N500 and N200, which were approved by the President.
“The president approved on the 11th page and directed that the design be done locally. However, investigation showed that what was eventually produced was not what was presented to the president,” he said.
The witness also disclosed that the original design of the old naira notes was handled by De La Rue, a UK-based company.
On whether the EFCC invited members of the CBN Board of Directors or its Committee of Governors during the investigation, Eneanya stated that the Commission obtained the statement of the official in charge of the Apex Bank’s Corporate Secretariat.
Earlier in the cross-examination, the witness identified Exhibit N1 to be the statement made by Ahmed Aliyu, Managing Director of the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company Limited, NSPMC
When asked if his investigation uncovered any contradiction in the content of Page six of Exhibit N1, the witness stated that the printing of the naira notes had been carried out locally before the investigation commenced. He also confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria paid NSPMC for the production of the currency.

Under re-examination, prosecution counsel, Abbas Mohammed, sought clarification on whether the President’s directive related to the design or production of the currency to which the witness stated that the redesign of the naira notes was carried out and given to President Buhari to approve.
“Investigation shows that the design of the currency was already shown to the president and it was approved,” the witness explained.
Justice Anineh thereafter adjourned the matter till May 11, 2026 for continuation of trial.
