Tinubu Orders Installation Of 5000 Surveillance Cameras In Plateau Over Insurgence

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the installation of at least 5,000 cameras across Plateau State to help law enforcement agencies identify and track rampaging terrorists.

Mr Tinubu stated this on Thursday during his visit to Plateau State following the deadly terrorist attack in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North on Palm Sunday.

“We are going to immediately install a network of cameras that will help law enforcement agencies identify troublemakers instantly—over 5,000 of them,” the president said.

Scores of residents were killed, and several others severely injured after rampaging terrorists attacked Angwan Rukuba last Sunday, drawing widespread condemnation from the international community, calling on the government to step up strategies in the fight against terrorism.

The president, who described Jos as once a peaceful city that hosted various political activities with ease, tasked the security agencies with apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

“I’m glad the IGP is here, I’m glad the Chief of Army Staff is here, and I’m glad the Minister of Defence is here. Our dear leaders, I have been to Jos, I have enjoyed Jos, and Jos is a city of peace. We have held our political activities here.

“I thank the men and women of the Armed Forces for what you are doing and for what you are about to do. You must go out and find the killers—not merely to console and create widows and widowers,” he added.

While noting that he was elected to secure lives and property, Mr Tinubu pledged to restore peace in the country rather than routinely offering condolences.

Mr Tinubu has come under heavy criticism over his failure to stem repeated killings and kidnappings across the country as required by the constitution. Critics also accused his administration of treating rampaging terrorists with kid gloves.

Meanwhile, defence minister Christopher Musa (retd), on Tuesday, called on troops on the battlefield to take a more aggressive stance in the fight against insurgencyttps by eliminating Boko Haram members wherever they are.

NAF Graduates Pioneer Young Officer In Strategic Communication Operations

In a major stride toward strengthening non-kinetic capabilities within the contemporary battlespace, the Nigerian Air Force on 2 April 2026 successfully graduated the pioneer set of young officers in the Information Specialty for Strategic Communication Operations, following three months of intensive and highly specialized training at the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administrative Management (NAFIAM).

The landmark achievement, which reflects the strategic foresight of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, marks another significant milestone in enhancing the Service’s information operations and non-kinetic warfare capabilities.

Having completed the Basic Information Young Officers Course (BIYOC) 1/2026, the graduands are now equipped with the professional capacity to undertake psychological operations, strategic messaging, social media engagement, influence operations, counter-narrative strategies, and public relations functions in support of operational objectives across all theatres.

Delivering a compelling graduation address, the Special Guest of Honour and Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Kehinde, underscored the growing importance of the information domain as a critical theatre of modern warfare.

He emphasized that the ability to shape perceptions, project credible narratives, and disseminate impactful imagery with speed and precision has become central to the Nigerian Air Force’s soft power strategy and mission success.

He commended the strategic depth of the pioneering course curriculum, describing it as a timely institutional response to the evolving demands of strategic communication in modern military operations. According to him, the course has effectively equipped the officers with the intellectual depth and practical tools required to design, coordinate, and execute high-impact communication strategies in line with the CAS key enabler of standardizing training and forging mission-focused capabilities.

The Commandant of NAFIAM, Air Commodore Isaiah Taiwo, described the graduation as a historic milestone in the development of specialized manpower for the Nigerian Air Force. He noted that the pioneer graduands are exceptionally prepared for frontline strategic communication responsibilities and expressed profound appreciation to the CAS for his unwavering support toward institutional capacity development.

Court Grants Final Forfeiture Of Multiple Properties, Cash To FG In Nasarawa

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 secured the final forfeiture of multiple properties and cash before Justice M.O. Olajuwon of the Federal High Court, sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State to the federal government. The assets are proceeds of unlawful activities belonging to one Theophilus Oloche Ebonyi.

The properties forfeited include a 23-room hotel and event centre known as De Thinkers Home and Apartments, located at New Layout, Abattoir Road First Gate, Nyanya Gwandara, Nasarawa State; a warehouse and sachet water factory and dispenser, located at No. 20 Philip Doda Street, Koroduma, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State; two office buildings, located at Philip Doda Street, before Chapel of Redemption Church, One-man Village, Koroduma, Karu, Nasarawa State; Theo International Academy Primary School, situated at Second Gate, Balogun Street, beside Football Field, Nyanya Gwandara, and the sum of N1,005,489.27 (One Million, Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Eighty-nine Naira, Twenty-seven Kobo) found in his First Bank account with account number 2033640394.

In his judgment, Justice Olajuwon held that the EFCC presented sufficient materials before the court to prove that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activity, adding that the Commission satisfied the requirements of Section 17(1) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act.

The judge further stated that with the Commission establishing cause for a reasonable suspicion of the assets to be proceeds of unlawful activity, the burden shifted to the respondents to show cause as to why the assets should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government and held that the respondents in this matter failed to discharge that burden.

The EFCC had through an affidavit deposed to by its investigator, Mary Ebute and submissions of its counsel, Ibrahim Buba (now Justice of the Federal High Court of Nigeria), proved in court that a Keystone Bank account number, 1011795156, belonging to the second respondent, Theobarth Global Foundation was the major account through which the first respondent collected his victims’ money in the Ponzi scheme and laundered through the acquisition of the forfeited properties.
