Technology Should Complement, Not Replace Books In Schools: Remi Tinubu

Technology should complement. She emphasised the importance of physical books in enhancing education standards globally.

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, says technological advancement cannot replace physical books in schools across the world. Mrs Tinubu said this during a meeting with the U.S. Special Envoy for Best Future Generations, Charles Harder, on the sidelines of the Fostering the Future Together Global Summit hosted by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in Washington.

In a statement issued on Friday by her senior special assistant on media, Busola Kukoyi, the first lady emphasised the importance of physical books in enhancing education standards globally.

She stressed the need for children to cultivate reading habits, noting that books help to broaden knowledge without the distractions associated with social media and related digital platforms.

She also reaffirmed that education remained a priority of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

“If you want to help people, you must first understand who they really are.

“My husband understands this, just as he did when he was governor of Lagos State. He is working to sanitise the system and lay a formidable foundation that can be built upon.

“Child nutrition will also be on the front burner in a few days through the Office of the First Lady when an aggressive nationwide campaign is launched,” she said.

In his remarks, Mr Harder said the meeting was convened to advance discussions on the needs and welfare of Nigerian children.

He explained that the Best Future Generations initiative, a brainchild of Melania Trump, sought to address issues affecting children globally, including food security, nutrition, health and protection from abuse.

More than 45 first ladies from various countries participated in discussions focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on children and adolescents worldwide.

From Airman To Associate Professor: The Inspiring Journey Of Dedication In The NAF

From airman to associate professor. The story of Associate Professor Theophilus Aniemeka Enem is a compelling narrative of resilience, vision, and the boundless opportunities within the Nigerian Air Force. From his enlistment as a young recruit in the 85A Set on 4 February 1985, he embraced the discipline and structure of military life with a quiet determination to rise above limitations.

His early days at the Ground Training Group in Kaduna laid not just the foundation of a military career, but ignited a lifelong pursuit of excellence, one that would see him continuously redefine what was possible for an airman in uniform.

What sets his journey apart is an unwavering commitment to self-development. While diligently serving his country, Enem invested in education with remarkable consistency, progressing from technical training to earning a Diploma in Data Processing, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and later a Master’s degree in Information Technology.

Refusing to settle, he pushed further to attain a PhD in Computer Science, emerging as the best graduating doctoral student at Babcock University. Each milestone was not merely a personal achievement, but a reflection of the enabling environment within the Nigerian Air Force, an institution that rewards initiative, supports growth, and empowers its personnel to excel both in service and in scholarship.

His elevation from the rank of Air Warrant Officer to a commissioned officer as a Flight Lieutenant in December 2018 symbolized the triumph of merit and perseverance. Even after his retirement in February 2020, his journey of impact continued seamlessly at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, where he was re-engaged as a Senior Lecturer. Rising to become an Associate Professor, departmental leader, and academic mentor, he has since shaped future generations, supervised numerous students, and contributed to critical research in cyber security and emerging defence technologies. Associate Professor Enem is married to Mrs Jovita Chinyere Enem and they are blessed with 2 children.

He likes reading and playing squash. His story resonates strongly with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which prioritizes professionalism, continuous learning, and human capacity development. It stands as a powerful reminder that within the Nigerian Air Force, dedication and discipline are not just values, they are pathways to extraordinary achievement.

EFCC Operation Not Responsible For Kwara Poly Protest, Says Ilorin Zonal Directorate

EFCC Operation. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, carried out a sting operation within two buildings flagged for suspected internet-related fraud at Agbede Community in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The operation, carried out on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, yielded the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters, six of whom are students of Kwara State Polytechnic. The profiling of the students showed that all the six students are actively involved in internet fraud. Eight vehicles suspected to be proceeds of crime were recovered from the suspects, alongside mobile phones and laptops.

The sting operation was not remotely connected to the Polytechnic. No entrance was made into the premises of the Institution and there was no disruption of any activity of the school. It is untenable to link any protest by some students of the Polytechnic to the lawful operation of the EFCC. Any video in circulation linking students’ protest with the operation of the Commission is contrived and outright misrepresentation of the operation.

The EFCC, for the umpteenth time, assures the public of the professionalism and integrity of its operations. All the channels of reporting unethical conduct of staff of the Commission remain open. The Commission will continue to work in the overall interests of Nigerians.

SEC sign MoU with NYSC to fight Ponzi schemes. The initiative was designed to sensitise young Nigerians to the risks of fraudulent investment schemes and promote sound, legitimate investment practices.

The Securities and Exchange Commission and National Youth Service Corps have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a community development service group focused on investment education for corps members.

The initiative was designed to sensitise young Nigerians to the risks of fraudulent investment schemes and promote sound, legitimate investment practices.

According to a statement by the SEC on Sunday, the MoU was recently signed by its director-general, Emomotimi Agama and NYSC director-general, Olakunle Nafiu.

It was also meant to promote financial literacy and sound investment habits among young Nigerians.

In addition, the collaboration will help equip corps members with essential knowledge and skills to identify and avoid Ponzi schemes and other illegal investment practices.

It will also help enhance public awareness campaigns against illegal financial schemes across all LGAs in the country, among other objectives.

“Based on the scope of the collaboration, SEC shall develop and provide relevant and up-to-date educational content, materials, and training modules on capital market operations, safe investment practices, and the identification and avoidance of Ponzi schemes.

“SEC will also be responsible for the content, resources and funding of training sessions for selected corps members and NYSC supervisors who will serve as trainers and facilitators in their respective communities.
