SDP condemns suspension, recall 0rocess against Kogi senator Natasha. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State has strongly criticized the suspension and recall process initiated against Senator Natasha Akpoti, describing it as politically motivated and excessive.

In a statement signed by factional Kogi SDP Secretary, Isaiah Davies Ijele, the party accused the state government of orchestrating the move to silence Akpoti, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District.

“While the Senate has rules for addressing misconduct, the actions against Senator Akpoti are unjust and politically driven,” the statement read.

The party praised Akpoti’s dedication to addressing key issues such as poverty, unemployment, and infrastructure deficits, insisting that the recall effort aims to undermine her commitment to public service.

The SDP vowed to resist what it termed a “blatant disregard for due process” and called on supporters and citizens to reject the attempt to silence the senator.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary steps to protect Senator Akpoti’s rights. The Senate must reconsider this decision to uphold democracy,” Ijele added.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Wife Reacts To Husband’s Apology To Justice, Gives Reasons

Nnamdi Kanu’s wife reacts to husband’s apology to justice, gives reasons. Uchechi Kanu, the wife to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has explained why her husband apologised to Justice Binta Nyako over his outburst during his trial.

The IPOB leader’s wife said the status of Kanu Agabi, the new counsel for Kanu demanded that some of the events that took place during the trial under Justice Nyako be addressed.

According to Uchechi, her husband’s encounter with Nyako and his subsequent reaction shook the foundations of Nigeria’s judiciary.

Her words, “In court today, my husband, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, acknowledged the necessity for Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, the new lead counsel, to address the court of Justice James Omotosho regarding what transpired at Binta Nyako’s court, which shook the foundations of the Nigerian judiciary.”

She stated that there was need for the new counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN) to address these issue to ease off tension over the already ruffled feathers.

“These clarifications were duly delivered by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN—a towering figure, twice Attorney-General, twice Minister of Justice, and a former Senator.

“Chief Agabi, stepping into Onyendu’s brief, acted to smooth over the ruffled feathers in certain segments of the bar and bench, caused by Onyendu’s legitimate, anger-fueled outbursts against Justice Binta Nyako’s court, which led to her recusal,” she added.

Uchechi added that the new lead counsel made it clear that he could not represent Kanu effectively without restoring decorum in the court.

In addition to Agabi’s apology on behalf of the IPOB leader, the newly appointed judge, Justice James Omotosho also apologised for the prolonged delays in his trial.

“Chief Agabi’s intervention was strategic, balancing Onyendu’s fury with the dignity of the court,” Uchechi said.

Wike Not Working For APC, PDP Chieftain Reveals

Wike not working for APC, PDP chieftain Reveals. Dan Orbih, the national vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-South, says FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is working for Nigerians and not the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is not working for APC; he is working for the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Saturday.

Mr Orbih said that having sought permission from the relevant organs of the party, PDP permitted Mr Wike to serve in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He said that in view of this, there should not be any issue with Mr Wike working with the APC-led Federal Government.

“He wrote to the South-South zonal executive. We had a meeting in Port Harcourt, and unanimously, we said it was a call to national service, and we gave him our nod,” the party chieftain said.

Mr Orbih said Mr Wike also wrote to the state chapter of the PDP, which also permitted him to take the presidential appointment.

“He wrote to his ward and local government chapters of the party. There is no organ of the party that came out to say no, don’t accept this appointment.

“He wrote to the governors’ forum, and I can tell you that at the end of the first meeting held by the forum, a delegation of that body went to congratulate him in Abuja,” he said.

He noted that political parties must be careful how they treat their members, adding that Mr Wike’s participation in the present government “is not an issue”.

“When he was given an invitation to serve in this government, he wrote to every critical organ of the party, informing them that Mr President had invited him to be part of his government.

“I am also aware that not too long ago, the members of the Board of Trustees met him in his official residence, and throughout that meeting, none of them raised this issue,” Mr Orbih said.

The PDP national vice-chairman also said his politics could not define his relationship with the FCT minister and his friends in other political parties.

“If, at my age, I now belong to a political party and the party tells me, this man cannot be your friend, then it is wrong.

“I want to say it very clearly: PDP cannot determine my friendship with Nyesom Wike, a very dependable, hard-working friend of mine,” he added.
