Monday Okpebholo Hails Works Minister, Backs Concrete Road Technology In Edo

Monday Okpebholo hails works minister, backs concrete road technology in Edo. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on the ongoing rehabilitation and repairs of federal roads in the state.

He also backed the Federal Government’s commitment to adopting Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement technology in road construction, emphasising its durability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term benefits.
Okpebholo gave the commendation on Monday during a visit to the minister at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Ahmed, the governor acknowledged that CRCP has significantly improved the quality and performance of federal roads.

He said, “We have come to thank the minister for the excellent work he’s doing in the state. Concrete technology is benefiting us and the country, at large. We appreciate his efforts and that of the Federal Ministry of Works.”

Okpebholo further acknowledged that the implementation of CRCP in key federal road projects has greatly enhanced the durability and performance of roads.

With its continuous steel reinforcement, CRCP not only reduces maintenance needs but also extends the lifespan of roads. This is particularly crucial for a rapidly growing and increasingly urbanised state like Edo.

Moreover, CRCP is especially beneficial in areas with high water table levels, as well as traffic volumes, thereby providing long-term advantages to motorists and commuters,” he added.
Responding, the minister expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked Okpebholo for recognising the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Works.

Umahi also emphasised the importance of sustainable infrastructure solutions like CRCP, noting that such innovations align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which seeks to enhance the nation’s road networks for accelerated economic development.
