ICPC DD Ese Miriam Okwong Inducted As FSI, Advocates Shared Ownership Of The Anti-Corruption Fight
ICPC DD Ese Miriam Okwong inducted as FSI, advocates shared ownership of the Anti-corruption fight. Mrs. Ese Miriam Okwong, a Deputy Director in the Planning, Research and Statistics Department of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has been inducted as a Fellow of the Security Institute of Nigeria.
The fellowship follows her successful completion of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC 18) at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Bwari, Abuja, from which she graduated on 6th December 2025.
Reflecting on the intensive ten-month programme, Mrs. Okwong described it as a major career milestone, providing advanced training in leadership, security, and intelligence management. She emphasised that the course has reinforced her commitment to the anti-corruption fight and equipped her with enhanced skills in strategic networking, inter-agency collaboration, and intelligence gathering.
Having joined the ICPC in 2002 as a pioneer staff member, Mrs. Okwong rose through the ranks to her current position, which qualified her for the executive training.
Her approach to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges is distinctly preventive and community-focused. She advocates for tackling the root causes of threats by actively involving non-state actors, including civil society, community groups, traditional institutions, and the media.
This philosophy was central to her research thesis at the NISS, which examined the ICPC’s community-centred advocacy. The study underscored the necessity for a collective ownership of the anti-corruption effort, engaging government, institutions, the private sector, and citizens alike. Among its key recommendations were sustained stakeholder engagement, stronger political will, judicial reforms, and the use of advanced technology for transparency.
During her time at the Institute, Mrs. Okwong also concurrently undertook a Master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies, affiliated with the University of Ilorin, an experience she found demanding yet transformative.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Okwong expressed her readiness to further support the ICPC’s preventive mandate through policy advocacy, coalition-building, community engagement, and mentoring the next generation of anti-corruption and security professionals.

EFCC Operation Not Responsible For Kwara Poly Protest, Says Ilorin Zonal Directorate
EFCC Operation Not Responsible For Kwara Poly Protest, Says Ilorin Zonal Directorate
EFCC Operation. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, carried out a sting operation within two buildings flagged for suspected internet-related fraud at Agbede Community in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, yielded the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters, six of whom are students of Kwara State Polytechnic. The profiling of the students showed that all the six students are actively involved in internet fraud. Eight vehicles suspected to be proceeds of crime were recovered from the suspects, alongside mobile phones and laptops.

EFCC
The sting operation was not remotely connected to the Polytechnic. No entrance was made into the premises of the Institution and there was no disruption of any activity of the school. It is untenable to link any protest by some students of the Polytechnic to the lawful operation of the EFCC. Any video in circulation linking students’ protest with the operation of the Commission is contrived and outright misrepresentation of the operation.
The EFCC, for the umpteenth time, assures the public of the professionalism and integrity of its operations. All the channels of reporting unethical conduct of staff of the Commission remain open. The Commission will continue to work in the overall interests of Nigerians.

NAF Partner Ekiti On Aircraft Maintenance Depot As CAS Pledges Expanded Airpower Presence
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Ekiti State Government have initiated strategic collaboration towards the establishment of an Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Depot aimed at strengthening indigenous technical capacity, enhancing operational readiness, and advancing national development.
This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja on 26 March 2026. The CAS noted that the initiative represents a critical milestone in the Service’s deliberate drive towards self-reliance in aircraft maintenance and the sustainable projection of airpower in support of national security objectives.
Air Marshal Aneke further explained that Ekiti State was identified as a potential host location due to its strong intellectual capital and growing reputation as a hub of knowledge and innovation. He commended the State Government for the allocation of land for the establishment of a NAF base and associated infrastructure, describing the gesture as a strategic investment in both security and socio-economic development.
According to the CAS, the proposed depot will not only enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s technical capability but will also generate specialised employment opportunities, stimulate local industry, and contribute significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s aviation and engineering sectors. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to expanding its operational footprint in Ekiti State to further strengthen security architecture across the South-West region.
In his response, Governor Oyebanji lauded the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism and unwavering commitment to safeguarding national stability, assuring the CAS of his administration’s full support for initiatives aimed at enhancing security and economic prosperity.
