Enugu LG Chairman Begins Free Healthcare For Elderly, PWDs

Enugu LG chairman begins free healthcare for elderly, PWDs. “The purpose of this programme is to boost the average life expectancy of our people from 54 years to 70 years and above,” the chairman said.

The chairman of the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eric Odo, says it would kick-start free healthcare services for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Mr Odo, also a medical doctor, said on Friday in Ogbede, the council headquarters, that a joint medical team to be set up by the council would administer free healthcare to the senior citizens.

He said, “We have concluded plans to employ doctors, nurses, and laboratory scientists to move with an ambulance around the 20 wards in the council area to attend to men and women of 60 years and above.

“We have discussed with the State Primary Healthcare Management Board and the Commissioner for Health our desire to begin the process of taking care of the elderly in Igbo-Etiti council.

“The purpose of this programme is to boost the average life expectancy of our people from 54 years to 70 years and above.”

Mr Odo disclosed that the council was registering 1,000 widows, who would be placed on a monthly stipend.
“Once the process is done, the benefiting widows would come to the local government headquarters to receive their stipend every month,” he said.

Mr Odo thanked Governor Peter Mbah for his support.
“We are also starting a universal health coverage that ensures that whenever the vulnerable, physically challenged and elderly persons are sick, they can go to any hospital in Igbo-Etiti, present their card and receive free treatment,” he added.

President Trump Insists On Third Term As U.S. President, Says He’s Not Joking

President Trump insists on third term as U.S. president, says he’s not joking. “There are methods which you could do it,” Mr Trump added, when asked how he plans to achieve his third term bid.

President Donald Trump has said he is “not joking” about seeking a third term in office, a move prohibited by the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment.

Mr Trump, in an interview with NBC on Sunday, said there was a method to achieve it.

“A lot of people want me to do it,” Mr Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker, discussing the possibility of a tenure extension. “But we have — my thinking is, we have a long way to go. I’m focused on the current.”

Asked if he wanted another term as president, Mr Trump said, “I like working.” When asked to clarify what he meant, Mr Trump said, “I’m not joking. But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”

“There are methods which you could do it,” Mr Trump added, when asked how he plans to achieve his third term bid.

A third term for Mr Trump would violate the U.S. 22nd Amendment, a clause in the American Constitution that says no person “shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice.”

A few days after Mr Trump made a historic return to the White House for a second term, Andy Ogles, House of Representatives of Tennessee, proposed an amendment to the Constitution that would see Mr Trump eligible for a third term.

Special Assistant to Governor Umo Eno on Arewa Community, Alhaji Ibrahim Iliya has commended the Governor for his inclusive governance, particularly towards the Arewa community.

Speaking on Sunday at Eid el-Fitri communal prayers at the Central Mosque in Uyo, marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, Iliya highlighted Governor Eno’s benevolence especially the yearly hosting of the Muslim on Iftar and other humanitarian gestures extended to them.
