The daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has unveiled a scholarship scheme for over 1,000 indigent students seeking admission at Havilla University in Cross River.

The president’s daughter unveiled the scheme on Tuesday to commemorate her second anniversary as the pro-chancellor and chairwoman of the school’s governing council.

She said the scheme would be a tuition-free award valued at N400,000 per student, covering the 2025/2026 academic session.

Ms Tinubu-Ojo, the iyaloja-general of Nigeria, stated that the initiative reflected her commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement. She described education as “the only leveller between the rich and the poor in society”.

She explained that every Nigerian youth deserves access to quality education to ensure a brighter future for the nation.

Ms Tinubu-Ojo commended the institution’s chancellor, Jones Tangban, for his exceptional leadership.

Ms Tinubu-Ojo urged prospective beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously now and in the near future.

Mr Tangban commended Tinubu-Ojo for her generosity, noting that her gesture aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr Tinubu’s administration, even though the scholarships are personally funded.

Ms Tinubu-Ojo had earlier inaugurated the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Complex of the institution.

She also laid the foundation for the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Centre for Vocational Studies at the university grounds to further strengthen her legacy in educational development.

Olukoyede Charges Students,Says “Make Integrity Your Foundation”

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged students across the country to make integrity their foundation, stressing that with such a foundation, future prospects of success will come handy.

He gave the charge in Abuja on Monday, March 9, 2026, while addressing students of J.K. People’s Comprehensive Academy Mararaba, Nasarawa State that came on a study tour of EFCC’s Corporate Headquarters.

Olukoyede, who spoke through EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the Commission, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Dele Oyewale noted that students that embraced integrity, accountable conduct and transparency will turn out to be leaders in their generation.

“ Your foundation is important. No superstructure can stand on a foundation of corruption. At this stage of your education, you have every opportunity to choose integrity. You cannot be wrong with integrity and you cannot be right with corruption”, he said.

The EFCC boss further encouraged the students to aim high, broaden their vision and aspirations and dominate their environment for good.

On her part, the Head of Enlightenment and Re-Orientation Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II Aisha Mohammed, pointed out that prevention, investigation and prosecution are EFCC’s three-pronged approach to fighting corruption, economic and financial crimes. She highlighted television and radio sensitisation programmes and the establishment of Integrity and Zero Tolerance clubs in schools across the country and sustained collaboration with critical stakeholders as part of the Commission’s preventive efforts.

She charged the students to always thread the path of ethical behaviour as leaders of tomorrow. “You are the future of this country. If you get it right, Nigeria will get it right. Be content. Don’t allow anyone to pressure you into living beyond your means,” she said.

In a presentation on cybersecurity, Inspector of the EFCC, Kayode Eniola, educated the students on the nature and consequences of cybercrimes, describing cybercrimes as criminal activities perpetrated through digital communication tools and internet-enabled platforms. She identified phishing, hacking and online romance scams as common forms of cybercrime, adding that victims of cybercrimes often suffer financial losses, privacy breaches and reputational damage.

She further advised the students to adopt preventive measures against cybercrimes, such as using strong passwords, updating their software regularly, avoiding suspicious links and logging out of shared devices after use.

In his remarks, Okoro Chijioke, a teacher in the school, expressed gratitude to the EFCC and the students for an insightful event, describing it as “an unforgettable experience and one of the best so far.”

The event featured a question and answer session as well as a quiz competition in which the children’s understanding of the lecture was assessed. Two students, who emerged winners, were presented with gifts and souvenirs.

ICPC Katsina Tasks Students To Be The Change In Building A Culture Of Integrity

ICPC Katsina tasks students to be the change. In a continued effort to secure meaningful youth participation in the national crusade against corruption, the Katsina State Office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on students to actively engage in the fight with the aim of instilling in students a culture of honesty and integrity that will guide their future endeavours.

This appeal was made to the students of the Federal University of Transportation in Daura during a sensitisation programme.

The admonition was delivered today by Mr. Abdullahi Alhassan of the System Study and Review Unit, who represented Mr. Samuel S. Lodam, the Commission’s Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) for Katsina State. The one-day event was organised by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the university.

In his remarks, Mr. Lodam emphasised that the fight against corruption is a collective responsibility, particularly for the nation’s youth. He described corruption as a “three-headed monster” responsible for the majority of contemporary challenges facing the country. He stressed that to guarantee social and economic security; all citizens must unite to stem the tide of corruption that is adversely affecting the economy.

The RACC informed the participants that a robust partnership and strong collaboration between the Commission and the student body would be instrumental in raising awareness.

Mr. Lodam also highlighted various youth-oriented programmes run by the ICPC and expressed his appreciation for the students’ desire to 0establish a Students Anti-Corruption Vanguard (SAV) within the institution.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Deputy ⁰Registrar of the university, Malam Abubakar Tanimu Yar’adua, described the fight against corruption within tertiary institutions as crucial.

He urged students to 0uphold academic honesty, resist negative peer pressure, and engage in value-driven activities both on and off campus. He praised the ACTU sensitisation programme as both 0timely and highly interactive, describing it as an inspiring and motivational experience for the students.

The Deputy Registrar further commended the ⁰anti-corruption initiatives of the ICPC under the active leadership of its Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, and lauded the Commission’s commitment to ⁰achieving a corruption-free Nigeria.

The highlight of the sensitisation programme was the presentation of two papers: “Staff Punctuality and Its Impact on the University” and “Corruption in the University System and Its Implications.”

These were delivered by the Deputy Registrar, Malam Abubakar Tanimu Yar’adua, and the Head of the Legal Unit, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim Safana, Esq.

UniCal Suspends Nine Students For Exam Malpractice, Forgery

UniCal suspends nine students for exam malpractice, forgery. The University of Calabar has suspended nine students for alleged examination malpractice and result forgery.

The suspension was announced in a statement by the institution’s registrar, Chukwuka Icha.

Mr Icha said the decision to suspend the students was reached at the 252nd senate meeting following reports from the Ad Hoc Senate Committee on Examination Malpractice and the Senate Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

He said that while five students were suspended for examination malpractice, the other four were found to have submitted forged results to the university.

”After reviewing the reports and recommendations of the committees, the management resolved that the affected students should be suspended for two academic sessions, and the suspension will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic year,” he said.

Those suspended include Akwuba Enestina, 300 Level, Pharmacy; Udom Iboro, 300 Level, Pharmacy; Nwankwo Daniel, 200 Level, Pharmacy; Ore Israel, 500 Level, Pharmacy; and Chisom Ejafa, 500 Level, Pharmacy.

Others are Lazarus Ebogo of the home economics department, Ele Godwin of the department of zoology, Ofem Patrick of the department of science laboratory technology, and Makailu Pamilo of the department of linguistics and communication studies.

Heads of departments, the deans of the affected faculties and the institution’s acting chief security officer have been assigned to ensure full compliance with the suspension order.
