FG Shuts Federal Secretariat In Abuja, Orders Work From Home Over APC Convention

The Federal Secretariat, Abuja, which houses numerous ministries and agencies, has been shut down, and workers are to work from home on Friday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its national convention at Eagle Square.

Abdul Garba, the permanent secretary of the Service Welfare Office for the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, issued a circular announcing the shutdown for Thursday.

“All ministries, extra-ministerial departments, agencies, and offices located within the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II, and III, are hereby informed of the closure of all access roads leading to and around the said federal secretariat complex, from Friday, 27th to Saturday, 28th March, 2026,” the circular read.

The circular explained that the shutdown “is due to the use of Eagle Square for the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party on the said dates.”

Against this background, all staff with offices in the federal secretariat are to work from home, while permanent secretaries and heads of ministries are urged to ensure that their workers comply with the circular.

“Accordingly, all personnel whose offices are located within Phases I, II and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are to work from home on Friday, 27th March, 2026,” the circular stated.

It added, “All concerned permanent secretaries and heads of agencies are kindly requested to bring the content of this circular to the attention of their staff, and ensure strict compliance.”

Preparations have been in top gear at Eagles Square ahead of the event.

EFCC Operation Not Responsible For Kwara Poly Protest, Says Ilorin Zonal Directorate

EFCC Operation. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, carried out a sting operation within two buildings flagged for suspected internet-related fraud at Agbede Community in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The operation, carried out on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, yielded the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters, six of whom are students of Kwara State Polytechnic. The profiling of the students showed that all the six students are actively involved in internet fraud. Eight vehicles suspected to be proceeds of crime were recovered from the suspects, alongside mobile phones and laptops.

The sting operation was not remotely connected to the Polytechnic. No entrance was made into the premises of the Institution and there was no disruption of any activity of the school. It is untenable to link any protest by some students of the Polytechnic to the lawful operation of the EFCC. Any video in circulation linking students’ protest with the operation of the Commission is contrived and outright misrepresentation of the operation.

The EFCC, for the umpteenth time, assures the public of the professionalism and integrity of its operations. All the channels of reporting unethical conduct of staff of the Commission remain open. The Commission will continue to work in the overall interests of Nigerians.
