Abuja Explosion: Police confirm multiple d£aths, 14 vehicles destroyed. The FCT Police Command has confirmed multiple casualties in a fatal accident near Nyanya Bridge on Wednesday, where a Dangote cement trailer lost control, crashing into vehicles and sparking a massive fire.

According to Police PRO SP Josephine Adeh, six victims rescued from the wreckage later succumbed to their injuries, though eyewitnesses suggest the d£ath toll exceeds ten. 14 vehicles were destroyed in the blaze.
Emergency responders worked to contain the fire, while hospitals, including National Hospital and Asokoro Hospital, are reportedly overwhelmed with victims. Traffic has now been restored.

Gov. Umo Eno inspects facilities at DASAC ahead of maiden graduation ceremony. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed satisfaction with the facilities and training at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC), Ikot Ada Edem, in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
Governor Eno shared his thoughts during a brief stopover at the center while on his way to flag off road construction projects in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas.
He said, “I am quite impressed by the standard of facilities and training here. I came here unannounced, and from what I have seen, it looks like the school is ready.
You have seen it yourself. The Rector and her team are doing a great job here, and I am very proud of them.”
The Governor also used the opportunity to visit the Akwa Ibom State contingent to the Niger Delta Sports Festival, who are camped at the facility, and charged them to strive for victory.
The Rector of the institution, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, who conducted the Governor around the facility, spoke on the viability of the center, noting that the facilities and their products are world-class.

She assured everyone that the trainees have been equipped with the requisite skills to excel in their chosen professions and invited the Governor to the graduation ceremony of the first batch of trainees, scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025.
The Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre boasts schools of Fashion, Catering, Agribusiness, ICT, Metal Technology, Wood Technology, among others.

FG to investigate excessive explosives use by Quarry Companies – Reps. The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to probe the excessive use of explosives by quarry companies, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory.
The decision followed a motion by Tijani Ismail, representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, who highlighted the negative impact of ZEBERCED Quarry in Kubwa, Abuja.
He noted that the company’s operations have caused noise pollution, weakened buildings, and posed health risks to residents, especially children and the elderly.

Quarry Companies
Lawmakers raised concerns over structural damage, deteriorating road infrastructure, and violations of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act (2007) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (1992).
The House directed its Committee on Solid Minerals to investigate ZEBERCED Quarry, recommend license revocation if necessary, and summon relevant agencies for an investigative hearing on the health and environmental impact of quarry operations.

Ogun State Confirms Lassa Fever Outbreak As NYSC Lose Member
Ogun State confirms lassa fever outbreak as NYSC lose member. The Ogun State government has confirmed an outbreak of Lassa fever following the lose of a 25-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, the female corps member had fallen ill in Ondo State before being brought to a secondary health facility in Ogun on March 18, 2025. She passed away the same day.
Lassa fever, a viral hemorrhagic disease, presents symptoms such as high fever, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, and unexplained bleeding.

Coker urged residents to seek medical attention if they experience these symptoms, particularly if a fever does not respond to malaria or antibiotic treatment within 48 hours. She also called on healthcare facilities to strengthen infection prevention measures and report suspected cases to designated disease surveillance officers.
The Ogun State government assured the public of its commitment to disease surveillance and rapid response, with efforts already in place to contain the outbreak through enhanced monitoring and community engagement.
