Dele Momodu Says “Wike Not A Character Tinubu Should Promote”
Dele Momodu says “Wike not a character Tinubu should promote”. A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Tinubu not to promote the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Momodu, in a riposte to Wike’s criticisms of him on Politics Today programme on Monday, asked Tinubu to put aside any political benefit he wants to get from Wike in the 2027 polls and put him where he belongs.
“My appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that no matter what you are expecting to gain from Wike in 2027, Wike is not the kind of character you should promote; he is not the kind of young man who should hijack our common patrimony,” Momodu said.
He claimed that political power derived from public offices and the privileges attached to the offices have changed Wike over the years.
“When a man who had been a nobody gets power, he begins to change slowly and steadily,” he said.
“The oppressed man respects only one man: the oppressor. Wike used to respect only one man – Rotimi Amaechi. Rotimi Amaechi has been my friend from the time he was Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.”
Momodu said Wike’s metamorphosis started when he took power as a local government chairman in Rivers State.
“Of course, after power in Nigeria comes the spirit of money. Also very demonic if you don’t know how to manage it well.”

Dele Momodu
The Ovation Magazine Publisher traced his close relationship to Wike to 2022 when the then governor of Rivers State reportedly invited him to the oil-rich Niger Delta state for the media coverage of some of the state’s projects.
Wike was Rivers governor from May 2015 to May 2023 and was appointed minister in August 2023.
Momodu claimed that Wike benefited from his talents and that he branded him and worked on his reputation before their relationship broke down irreparably.
Channels reports that Momodu and Wike were once friends but their relationship toured sour when both men joined the race to become the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP. Both men, among others, lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Nigeria’s Diversity is Our Strengthen, Unity Must Remain Our Greates Asset, Says Minister Mohammed Idris
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described Nigeria’s diversity as a source of strength, urging citizens to promote unity and mutual understanding, noting that what binds Nigerians together is far greater than what divides them.

Idris stated this on Friday, August 14, 2026, when he attended the wake-keep of the late Ukandi Placidus Ugar Ogar in Obudu, Cross River State, alongside family members, friends, and dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey; former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade; Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar; and the Cross River State Commissioner for Lands, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang.
The late Ukandi Placidus Ugar Ogar, who died at the age of 76, was an elder brother to Senator Ayade and Dr. Frank Ayade.
The Minister said the gathering reflected the richness of Nigeria’s diversity and the ability of citizens from different backgrounds to unite in solidarity.
“What I have seen today is the diversity of Nigeria and how it can be further harnessed to promote unity in this country. Nigerians from all walks of life are Nigerians first. Therefore, we must celebrate them wherever they are,” he said.
While expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Idris noted that the occasion also provided an opportunity to honour a life that fostered unity among people.
“It is a moment of sorrow that he has passed on, but also a moment of gratitude that he lived a worthy life, one that helped bring people together,” the Minister said.
He called on Nigerians to continue to promote unity and shared values, while leveraging the country’s diverse cultures and traditions as assets for national development.
“We must strengthen our unity, uphold our shared values, and also see our diversity as a resource that can contribute meaningfully to the growth of our economy,” he said.

Mohammed Idris
Idris reaffirmed that Nigeria’s strength lies in its people and their collective ability to rise above differences in pursuit of the common good.
