Lagos LG Poll: Jandor Inaugurates Independent Campaign Group To Support APC Candidates
Lagos LG Poll: Jandor inaugurates independent campaign group to support APC candidates. Ahead of the July 12 local government election in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor, has officially inaugurated the Independent Campaign Group (ICG) in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
The self-sponsored ICG, made up of dedicated grassroots mobilisers, loyal party members, youth volunteers, and community leaders across the 377 wards, 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State, was set up to galvanize massive support for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming Local Government Elections in the state slated for July 12.
At the official inauguration of the ICG in Ikeja on Monday, which was unveiled by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the former Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), restated his unflinching commitment to the success of the APC at all levels and described the initiative as a continuation of his passion for grassroots development and inclusive governance.
“This campaign group is not just about politics, it’s about ensuring quality representation at the grassroots level, consolidating the gains of good governance, and empowering the people to choose credible leaders under our great party, the APC.
I’ve taken it upon myself to fund and mobilise this initiative because I believe in the future of our state and the strength of our people,” he said. Jandor recalled that the Lagos4Lagos Movement, under his leadership, returned to the APC in March, 2025, saying that he was nurtured to nurture the party.
According to him, despite the fact that his group doesn’t have any councillorship or chairmanship candidate in any of the local governments or LCDAs, they recognise the supremacy of the party and would work for its success at the polls. “We feel that we should make use of our structures in the local councils and we will do door to door campaigns for all the candidates of the APC whether we know them or not.
“Their win is our win. We brought all the coordinators from the different council areas in the state that would now inaugurate others when they get to their areas. “The 24 members of the campaign committee that we have chosen would follow me everywhere that is necessary during the campaign. The coordinators know what to do and they would do it with utmost responsibilities,” he said.
While inaugurating the campaign committees and coordinators, Princess Orelope-Adefulire said that the candidates of the party would be monitored even after they must have won elections.
She stated that it’s when the elected officials perform that the party can go back to the people to campaign for another election. “We need to follow-up our candidates when they get to offices so that they can do what they promised the people. We’ll ensure that they give the people the dividends of democracy.
There should be monitoring and evaluation. “When we’re accountable to the people it would not be difficult to call them out for votes. It would also not be difficult for us to campaign for the President in 2027,” she said.
The former Lagos State Deputy Governor however, thanked Jandor for his efforts in the state and for showing the spirit of sportsmanship and for his commitment. She said that people don’t need positions before they carry out responsibilities, adding that politics starts from the grassroots.
“I’ve been in politics for long, I was elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 1991. We used to carry chairs and I was writing minutes at meetings before I later became the secretary of the party. “Jandor is a party man, we know those who fold their hands and would not do anything.
Jandor is a grassroots party man. On behalf of the President, the state Governor and the Chairman of the party in the state, I thank you and pray that you’ll live long to enjoy the fruits of your labour,” she said.
She charged the campaign committee members and the coordinators to ensure that they go out to campaign for the party, urging Lagosians to go out enmasse to cast their votes so that they can be part of the democratic process at the grassroots level in the state.

APC
Led by 24 state apex leaders, 57 Local Government Coordinators and 377 Ward leaders, the ICG is expected to commence Ward to Ward engagement, voter education, door-to-door mobilisation, and media outreach in the days ahead, amplifying the party’s message of continuity, development, and responsive leadership.
The event was attended by the Lagos State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who was ably represented by the State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Moshood Maiyegun, former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP, Alh. Safuratu Abdul-Kareem, former Deputy Chairman of Lagos PDP now a chieftain of the APC, Chief Ola Apena, among other prominent stakeholders, community influencers, and youth groups from across the state.
