Umo Eno Issues Warning To Commissioners On Strict Adherence To Protocols

Umo Eno issues warning to commissioners on strict adherence to protocols, inspects judiciary estate project.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated the need for discipline, accountability, and adherence to official procedures among members of the State Executive Council.

Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the Judiciary Village in Uyo, the Governor expressed concern over adherence to standard operating procedures governing official appointments and engagements as prescribed in the Executive Council manuals.

Governor Eno issued a firm directive that all commissioners and members of the Executive Council must strictly comply with these procedures, warning that any breach would attract severe consequences, including summary removal from office.

He said, “This is a full-time job, we have given you all the tools you need to succeed. It is now mandatory that every commissioner must return with me to the office after official engagement. There may be urgent matters that require immediate attention of specific commissioners, and they must be present and available to attend to such.”

Governor Eno emphasized that his administration remains committed to professionalism, efficient service delivery, and seamless coordination in the interest of the people of Akwa Ibom State.

This directive aligns with the core values of the ARISE Agenda and reflects the Governor’s determination to uphold the standards of excellence and responsive leadership that have become the hallmark of his administration.

Governor Eno expressed satisfaction at the pace of execution of the project, saying he decided to stop over at the site to see things for himself so as to compare note with the reports he has received on the project.

He said that the project would soon be flagged off and that it was necessary for the project to take off before the groundbreaking ceremony.

He acknowledged that the project has taken off in earnest as the perimeter fence and prototype building are in advanced stage of construction, explaining that the inspection has given him opportunity to give further directives on the project.

Governor Eno explained that the vision behind the Judiciary officers Housing Estate project was to give Judges and other Judiciary workers a befitting accommodation as it is done in civilized climes.

“It is going on well to be honest with you. For me, i don’t like to be told things on paper. So most times I come out, see things for myself. It is part of work. I told you before, I was taught in the business school, management by working around (MBWA), it is another style of management.

“I don’t believe in sitting in the office, discuss, talk and talk. Once in a while, you go out and see what is going on.

“We are coming to flag off this project, and for me, it is not ground breaking where you finish breaking the ground, and it takes a long time to move to site. You observe that when we go to flag off, projects have already started.

“The fence is going on, you can see the prototype building and we have just given directives on what to do, before we come to flag off. I believe that our Judges who dispense justice must live in a conducive and well secured environment.

“I was Commissioner for Lands when the other facility was given to them. It is now mixed, and we cannot put Judges where you have a mixed multitude.

So we thought we should give them a place where only judicial officers will live in as it is done in other climes.”
