Eid-el-Fitr: Anambra NSCDC deploys 1,045 personnel to ensure safety. Mr Maku also urged residents to remain vigilant.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra command, has deployed 1,045 personnel to ensure the safety of residents and property during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The state commandant, Olatunde Maku, said that the deployment was to beef up security within the state during and after the celebration.

Mr Maku made the disclosure in a statement issued by the command’s Head of Media, SC Edwin Okadigbo, in Awka on Saturday.

“Round the clock surveillance has been put in place in some identified black spots, threat-prone areas, flashpoints and other vulnerable criminal spots towards ensuring a seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

“Personnel drawn from different units of the corps are to dominate the public space including Eid prayer grounds, social and recreational centres, critical state and national infrastructure, amusement parks and other strategic public places.

“This will build confidence among the citizens and fun seekers, and ensure a safe and secured environment for all,” he said.

The commandant urged the officers and men to conduct themselves in a professional manner by respecting the fundamental human rights of citizens while performing their duties.
