PSC Cautions CPs Against Indiscriminately, Unregulated Creation Of Tactical Units

PSC cautions CPs against indiscriminately, unregulated creation of tactical units. The Police Service Commission (PSC) has cautioned state commissioners of police against indiscriminately setting up tactical units, warning that they should not replace recognized police departments, particularly at state command headquarters.

In a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, the PSC noted that some state commissioners have misused these units, undermining established police departments led by Deputy Commissioners of Police.

During the screening of nine commissioners recommended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for state command appointments, the PSC emphasized that the new CPs must ensure recognized departments remain functional.

Meanwhile, the Commission approved the IGP’s recommendations for the appointment of:

–Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba (Kano State) as CP Zamfara
–Breret Emmanuel Simon (Plateau State) as CP Taraba
–Christopher Ado Emmanuel (Niger State) as CP Yobe
–Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin (Ondo State) as CP Cross River

–Adamu Abdullahi Elleman (Jigawa State) as CP Niger
–Sani Omolori Aliyu (Kogi State) as CP Bauchi
Bello Shehu (Gombe State) as CP Katsina

The newly appointed CPs underwent an interactive oral interview coordinated by DIG Taiwo Lakanu, a PSC commissioner representing the police.

PSC Chairman, Hashimu Argungu, urged the officers to prevent the misuse of tactical units and ensure they do not take over the responsibilities of recognized departments. He also stressed the importance of collaborating with Deputy Commissioners appointed by the IGP.

DIG Lakanu advised the CPs to foster trust among their subordinates and communities, including youths, traditional leaders, and organizations.

He warned against setting up unnecessary squads, emphasizing the need for proper coordination in policing operations.

APGA National Youth Leader Apologises To Oby Ezekwesili, Calls For Immediate Recall Of Senator Nwebonyi

APGA national youth leader apologises to Oby Ezekwesili, calls for immediate recall of senator Nwebonyi . The National Youth Leader of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Comr Delaw Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu has apologised to former Minister Of Education, Oby Ezekwesili over the insult he received from Ebonyi North Senator, Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

Recall that Oby Ezekwesili on Tuesday had a serious verbal clash with Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

The clash occurred at the ethics committee hearing on s3xual harassment allegations between Senate President Akpabio and Suspended Senator Natasha.

During the altercation, Senator Nwebonyi told Dr Ezekwesili “You are an insult to womanhood”

Dr Ezekwesili was reasonably calm as the Senator raged on. She was at the event in solidarity with embattled Senator Natasha.

Reacting over ugly incident, Comr Onyebuchi Chukwu said Ebonyi men are gender sensitive and respectful to women knowing how crucial in their women are in our families.

He tendered unreserved apology to Oby Ezekwesili and called for Ebonyi North people to recall him immediately.

The statement reads,

“In Ebonyi we are trained to be humble and well behaved. We grow up respecting elders. Our men are gender sensitive and respectful to women knowing how crucial our women are in our families.

This continuous outburst against the women by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi as we have seen with the case of Senator Natasha Akpoti and now Oby Ezekwesili does not represent the character of an Ebonyi man.”

“I therefore on behalf of Ndi Ebonyi apologise to Dr Obi Ezekwesili, a global figure of repute that deserves only but accolades. Find a place in your heart to forgive his misbehaviour.

This is not how an Ebonyi man behaves. We have home training. You are nothing but a pride of womanhood. You are highly educated and well behaved. You have been an asset in this generation and we are proud of all you do for the society.”

“I am also calling on those who voted Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi to power to start his recall for misconduct and public display of a shameful outburst.

This is not the essence of your votes for him and he has shown that he’s not qualified to hold any public office. After dancing naked on National television, presenting Ebonyi and Ebonyians in a bad light, we expected an apology and not a repeat.”

“In the same vein, I am calling on my own senatorial zone, Ebonyi South to start the process of recalling Prof Anthony Ani for missing in action.

Since he was elected, his presence has not been felt in the zone and this is affecting the progress of the zone.

He should be recalled back to what he knows to do in the university and not remain in the job he’s forced to do.”
