Jandor, Not Sanwo-Olu, Won The 2023 Lagos Governorship Election Says Galadima

Jandor, Not Sanwo-Olu, Won The 2023 Lagos Governorship Election Says Galadima
Jandor, not Sanwo-Olu, won the 2023 Lagos governorship Election says Galadima. A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaji Buba Galadima, has claimed that Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, was the actual winner of the 2023 Lagos governorship election, but the victory was taken from him.
Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Galadima insisted that despite official results declaring Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu the winner, Jandor had the people’s support.
Jandor, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), finished third in the election with 62,449 votes. He trailed Sanwo-Olu, who secured 762,134 votes, and Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who garnered 312,329 votes.
Galadima argued that Jandor’s defection to the APC was part of the ruling party’s strategy to weaken opposition forces, making it difficult to mount a strong challenge in the 2027 elections.
“You have seen what Jandor has done. Look at the massive support he received from Lagosians. I believe he won the election, but it was taken away from him.

Abdul-Azeez Jandor
“But today, he has backtracked and returned to the APC. How do we sustain opposition politics? We need to stand firm on principles, even if we are alone, rather than making decisions based on personal gains,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jandor defended his decision to return to the APC, stating that the party’s structure and ability to win elections made it a more viable platform.
He also cited internal conflicts and indiscipline within the PDP as reasons for his defection.
