AFIT Hosts NNSAT Students on Study Tour to Enhance Technical awareness

The Under-Training Personnel of the Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology (NNSAT) on Thursday 17 September 2026, visited the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) as part of an ongoing training tour aimed at broadening their technical knowledge on armament and advancement in technology.

Receiving the students on behalf of the Commandant AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Kolade Ademuwagun, the Institute Intelligence Officer, Squadron Leader Olufemi Samson Abiodun, encouraged the students to embrace the knowledge gained during the study tour and remain committed to upholding the professional standards of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He thanked the Commandant of NNSAT for providing the students with the opportunity to visit the Institute and for sustaining inter-service collaboration in training.

Earlier in his remarks, the representative of the Commandant, Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, Commander Emmanuel Izekor, stated that the study tour was designed to expose the students to practical demonstration of instructions in armament technology with emphasis on research and development.

Commander Izekor expressed appreciation to the Commandant AFIT for providing the enabling environment and for availing the students with experienced instructors who imparted relevant knowledge during the tour. Responding on behalf of the students, Petty Officer Alkali IN expressed gratitude to the AFIT Commandant for the warm reception accorded them and assured that the knowledge gained would be reflected in their subsequent training and service.

The visit underscores the commitment of both institutions to enhancing collaboration, knowledge sharing and improving joint operational capabilities within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Peter Obi Tells UNN to Release His Academic Records

2027 NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has asked the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to release his academic records following reports of a legal action seeking Certified True Copies of his university certificates and other admission records.

Obi, in a statement on Tuesday on X, said he had no objection to the release of his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, which he said was awarded by the university in 1984, as well as other academic records relating to his admission and studies at the institution.

His statement followed reports circulating on social media concerning a legal action by an individual or group seeking CTCs of his degree certificate and other academic credentials.

“I wish to state clearly that I have absolutely no objection to the release of these records,” Obi said.

He called on the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to make his academic certificates, records and other official documents available upon legitimate request and within the limits permitted by law.

“I respectfully request that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, within the limits permitted by law, make available, upon legitimate request, my academic certificates, records, and other official documents relating to my admission and studies at the University,” he said.

Obi added that he had no objection to other educational institutions he attended, both within and outside Nigeria, releasing his academic records in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.

He said he believed in transparency and accountability, particularly for people seeking public office, but urged that scrutiny be conducted fairly and lawfully.

“I believe strongly in transparency and accountability, particularly for those who seek the privilege of public office. Public scrutiny must, however, be fair, lawful, and applied consistently to everyone who seeks to lead our nation,” he said.

Obi, who is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election, said he welcomed legitimate public interest in his background, qualifications and record.

“As a presidential candidate seeking the trust of Nigerians to lead our country, I welcome legitimate public interest in my background, qualifications, and record. I am prepared to subject myself to the level of scrutiny that should reasonably be expected of anyone seeking the highest office in our country,” he said.

He also challenged other presidential aspirants to make their educational qualifications and relevant records available for public scrutiny.

“I encourage every presidential candidate to make their educational qualifications and relevant records available for legitimate public scrutiny,” Obi said.

He said such scrutiny should be viewed as an opportunity to strengthen public confidence and promote accountability rather than as an attack.

“Doing so should not be regarded as an inconvenience or an attack. Rather, it is an opportunity to strengthen public confidence, promote accountability, and rebuild the trust of Nigerians in those who seek to govern them,” he said.

Obi said leadership should reflect the values expected of the society the country seeks to build, including transparency, integrity, accountability and respect for institutions.

“I therefore welcome the scrutiny of my academic background and remain committed to the principle that those who ask Nigerians for their trust must also be willing to earn that trust through openness and accountability,” Obi said.

NAF, Police Strengthen Collaboration in Crime Fight, Officer Emerges Best in Liberal Studies

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has further strengthened its professional capacity in policing, criminal investigation and law enforcement, as five Air Provost Officers successfully completed the Advance Detective Course 80/2026 at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.

The course enhanced participants’ competence in criminal investigation, law, crime detection, law enforcement and inter-agency cooperation, equipping them to contribute more effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security needs.

Bringing together participants from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force and other military, intelligence, security and law-enforcement agencies, the course provided a valuable platform for sharing professional knowledge and operational experiences.

Beyond the classroom, the engagement further strengthened relationships and interoperability among security agencies, reinforcing a shared commitment to preventing and investigating crime and protecting lives and property.

A major highlight was the outstanding performance of Flying Officer GS Edward, who emerged as the Overall Best Participant in Liberal Studies. His achievement, alongside the strong performance of the five NAF participants, reflects the Service’s commitment to excellence and the development of highly competent, disciplined and professionally grounded personnel.

More importantly, the strengthened partnership between the NAF, Police and other security agencies demonstrates the power of working together to confront security challenges and deliver greater safety and confidence to Nigerians.
