How NAF Intensifies Airpower in Sokoto to Deny Terrorists Freedom of Action
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its airpower campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, with a strengthened air presence in Sokoto State to support ongoing joint security operations.

The initiative reflects the Service’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, enhance aerial surveillance and maintain the capacity for rapid response to emerging threats, while providing effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area.
The strengthened air presence is particularly significant in the fight against asymmetric threats, where terrorists and bandits exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground forces. By leveraging the reach, speed, flexibility and precision of airpower, the NAF is better positioned to support efforts to locate, disrupt and degrade hostile elements, deny them freedom of movement and action, and create greater operational opportunities for surface forces to consolidate gains on the ground. The effort further underscores the importance of sustained air-ground coordination in confronting evolving security challenges across the region.
The initiative is consistent with the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to maintaining a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower effects in synergy with the sister Services and other security agencies.

NAF
The NAF remains resolute in leveraging airpower and joint operations to protect lives and property, degrade terrorist and criminal networks, and contribute to the restoration of lasting peace, stability and security across the North-West and the nation at large.

Nigerian Navy Foils Illegal Refining Comeback, Recovers 103,000 Litres in Rivers
Nigerian Navy Foils Illegal Refining Comeback, Recovers 103,000 Litres in Rivers
The Nigerian Navy has frustrated attempts by criminal elements to revive illegal refining activities in Rivers State, with personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER disrupting three illegal refining sites and recovering approximately 103,000 litres of products suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) around the Ohaji axis of Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.

The operation, conducted on 22 August 2026 following credible intelligence, uncovered 12 dugout pits, sacks and reservoirs containing the suspected illegally refined products, alongside two pumping machines.
The intervention comes barely a week after NNS PATHFINDER disrupted two illegal refining sites within the same general area on 15 August 2026. The successive interventions have constrained efforts to rebuild illegal refining infrastructure, with a noticeable decline in the reactivation of such sites.
The illegal refining sites, recovered products and associated equipment were handled in accordance with established anti-crude oil theft procedures. No arrest was made as the operators had fled before the arrival of the naval troops.
The latest success demonstrates the impact of sustained naval pressure on the infrastructure that enables illegal refining and crude oil theft, thereby denying criminal elements the capacity to restore their illicit operations.

Nigerian Navy
The Nigerian Navy remains committed to sustaining Operation DELTA SENTINEL to protect Nigeria’s oil and gas assets, disrupt economic sabotage and create a secure environment for legitimate production and investment.

In the course of investigation by operatives of the EFCC, it was discovered that the suspect rents different Toyota Hilux trucks, disguises as a wealthy contractor, moves with escorts and meets BDC operators in the south-east and allegedly tricks them into parting with their had earned money, by presenting fake alerts in Naira to them, after collecting their money.
According to Chukwumuanya, “I gave him the dollar and he counted it by himself. After confirmation, he then asked for my bank details. After giving him my account number, he mentioned my name that popped up on his bank application, I confirmed it. The next thing he told me was that it had gone through, which I waited for the alert to come, to no avail. He said, “the dollar on me was $2,600, then I called my office to bring additional $4,400 to me to complete it as he requested for $7,000. As we were waiting, he complained that he was running late and we decided to move to Royce Road from Port Harcourt Road where he finally collected the money from me, resumed transfer, called my name and informed me that the transfer had gone which I believed but continued to expect alert from him”.

EFCC
