ADC Youths Sets To Hold #AmupitanMustGo Protests In Lagos, Ogun, Jigawa
Youths of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are set to stage protests at offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos, Ogun and Jigawa states today under the #AmupitanMustGo campaign.
Balarabe Rufai, the party’s national youth leader, shared this in a post on X on Monday, attaching flyers for the Lagos and Ogun protests, both tagged ‘Operation Occupy INEC’.
According to Rufai, the Lagos protest will commence at 8am at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), while the Ogun protest is scheduled for 11am at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) office in Abeokuta.
As of the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the protests had commenced at the INEC office in Lagos.
In a separate post on Thursday, Rufai said ADC youths had earlier protested at the INEC office in Lagos, displaying placards with various inscriptions.
“Lagos ADC Youth Wing has taken a firm and peaceful stand, occupying INEC to deliver a clear message: the rule of law must be respected, due process must be upheld, Amupitan must resign immediately, and the Senator David Mark-led leadership must be restored without delay,” he wrote.
“This is a call for accountability, not chaos.
“When institutions fail to act with fairness, citizens have a duty to respond with courage and clarity. The demand is simple: restore integrity or step aside.”
On April 8, key opposition figures in the ADC, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; David Mark, the party’s national chairman; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; staged a similar protest tagged ‘Occupy INEC’ in Abuja.

Youths Threaten Protest
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election; Rauf Aregbesola, ADC national secretary; Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano; and Dino Melaye, former Kogi senator; were also among the protesters.
The protests follow INEC’s de-recognition of ADC factions on April 1, citing a March 12 court of appeal judgment ordering the maintenance of the status quo in the party’s leadership crisis.
The ADC demonstrators accused INEC of “partisanship”, calling for the sack of Joash Amupitan, its chairman.

EFCC Arrests Kaduna Businessman Over Multimillion-naira Dud Cheques
Mr Timothy, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, on Monday, ordered a businessman, Vincent Timothy, to be remanded in prison custody for issuing dud cheques totalling N20 million.
Mr Timothy, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
“The defendant shall be remanded in the correctional centre pending ruling on his bail application,” the judge said.
Mr Khobo thereafter adjourned the case until May 12 for a ruling on the bail application.
Earlier, EFCC’s counsel, E. K. Garba, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in January.
Mr Garba said the defendant took a N20 million loan from Aires Financial Services Limited, which was to be returned at a later date.

EFCC
The lawyer disclosed that the defendant later issued five dud cheques, each for N4 million, which were all dishonoured due to insufficient funds in his account.
The defence’s lawyer, A. M. Sunday, however, asked the court to grant bail to the defendant.
He said that the defendant had voluntarily reported to the EFCC office on April 3, after being invited by the anti-graft agency.

Oyedepo Declare Divine Judgement On Terrorists, Their Sponsors In Next Seven Days
Oyedepo Declare Divine Judgement On Terrorists, Their Sponsors In Next Seven Days
The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has declared judgment upon bandits and their sponsors.
Mr Oyedepo said this during a church service on Sunday tagged: “Covenant Day of Vengeance.”
Speaking at the church headquarters in Ota, Ogun State, the cleric declared that within seven days, divine retribution would strike those behind k1llings and kidnappings across Nigeria.
“Except I am not sent, in the next seven days, I declare judgment upon those responsible for these disasters and their sponsors in Jesus’ name,” he said.
The cleric added that the coming week would be marked by “testimonies of vengeance” for the nation.
He said that God’s intervention was imminent.
Preaching on pathways to sanctification, Mr Oyedepo urged congregants to resist spiritual laxity, stressing that ungodliness blocks supernatural breakthroughs and stains destiny.

Oyedepo
He explained that ungodliness fuelled shame and reproach, warning that without holiness, believers risked losing access to eternity, which remained the ultimate goal.
He said, “Until the God of vengeance shows up, the wicked will not give up.”
