Be True To Yourselves, Do The Right Things: Olukoyede Tells Girls Guide

Be true to yourselves. The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ,EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has called on members of the Girls Guide across the country to be true to themselves and do the right things in order to be separated from economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption.

He gave this charge in Abuja while receiving the Africa Girls Guide that visited the Corporate Headquarters of the Commission on a study tour.

Olukoyede, who spoke through Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Nwayinma Okeanu, explained that Nigeria needed young women like the Girls Guide to turn things around in order to move the nation forward.

” The only way we you can do it is by being true to ourselves, by doing the right things even when nobody is there to police us, by ensuring that good legacies are left behind for the coming generation”

Speaking further, Olukoyede said that tomorrow was not certain but we can make it certain by building solid structures that will guarantee it. The EFCC’s boss further urged the girls to be guided and make themselves such girls that Nigeria and Africa can boast about.

The Acting Director, Staff Welfare Services, DCE Felicia Bot Timothy enjoined the girls to always show their good upbringing through courteous and accountable conduct, stressing that their future will depend on how they handle today

“Keep being good ladies, continue to emulate the good things you have been taught to do. I believe in you, and I trust tomorrow you will see me and say I remember she told us we could do it”, she said.

In a presentation on cybercrime, Inspector of the EFCC, IE Kayode Eniola, described cybercrimes as criminal activities carried out through digital communication tools on the internet.

She listed phishing, hacking, and online romance scams as common examples.

“Hacking involves unauthorized access to someone’s system or network,” she explained, adding that cybercrime can result in reputational damage, privacy breaches, and financial losses.

She also advised the students to adopt preventive measures such as using strong passwords, updating software regularly, and logging out of shared devices after use.

ADC Urges Unity Ahead Of Presidential Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on all presidential aspirants, party leaders, and members across the country to uphold the highest standards of discipline, unity, and democratic conduct ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the forthcoming primaries as a defining democratic moment, not only for the party, but for Nigerians searching for a credible political alternative.

“The ADC remains proud to stand today as the only truly democratic party in Nigeria, because it is the only political party whose choice of Presidential candidate is determined through open primaries, “ the statement said.

The party noted that the conduct of all participants before, during, and after the primaries would send a strong signal to Nigerians about the kind of leadership culture the ADC seeks to build.

“We therefore urge all aspirants, their supporters, delegates, and party faithful to conduct themselves peacefully, responsibly, and with dignity throughout the process. This election must reflect the values we claim to represent as a party committed to transparency, internal democracy, national unity, and the rule of law,” Abdullahi stated.

He added that while contests and disagreements are natural in every democratic process, the larger mission of rescuing Nigeria and rebuilding public trust in leadership must remain paramount.

“At the end of this exercise, there will be no winners or losers within the ADC family. The ultimate objective is to emerge stronger, more united, and fully prepared to offer Nigerians the competent and credible leadership they deserve,” he said.

The party also reassured members that all necessary measures had been put in place to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and credible primary process.
