ICPC in Ondo tracks N54.7m NPHCDA borehole projects, confirms functionality. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), under its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTI), has successfully tracked and verified the execution of three borehole projects in Ondo State awarded by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

The ICPC team carried out the tracking exercise alongside representatives from National Primary Health Care Development Agency and other accredited Project Management Consultants.

The projects were approved at the NPHCDA Tenders Board meeting held on November 20, 2024, and formally awarded on November 21, 2024, to Workman Network & Equipment Resources Ltd.

The contract, valued at ₦54,758,244.00 (Fifty-Four Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Eight Thousand, Two Hundred and Forty-Four Naira) inclusive of taxes, covered the drilling of motorized boreholes at the following Primary Health Care Centres in Ondo State:

Basic Health Centre, Danjuma – Akure South LGA

Basic Health Centre, Awaye – Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo LGA

Boa II Primary Health Centre – Akoko South West LGA
ICPC’s monitoring team confirmed that the boreholes were executed and are functional, providing much-needed potable water to the health facilities and surrounding communities.

At the Basic Health Centre in Ile-Oluji, Oke Igbo, the Primary Health Care Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Ajiromoke Mercy, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work delivered.

She commended the initiative, noting that the borehole project has effectively addressed longstanding water challenges within the health centre and has significantly benefited the host community.

Kwara EFCC Arrests Eight, Six Trucks For Alleged Illegal Mining Activities

Kwara EFCC arrests eight, six trucks for alleged illegal mining activities. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested eight persons and six trucks for alleged involvement in illegal mining activities along the Ilorin – Ogbomoso axis of Kwara and Oyo states.

The suspects were arrested on Saturday, February 20, 2026, following credible intelligence and days of surveillance on unlawful mineral excavation and transportation across parts of the two states.

Their arrest brings to 18 the total number of persons apprehended by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate for suspected illegal mining within the last one month.

The suspects were intercepted last weekend alongside six truck-loads of assorted minerals suspected to be lithium and kaolin.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly operated without the requisite licences, permits, or regulatory approvals for mining activities.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the ongoing investigations.

Ola Olukoyede Cautions Youths Against Social Vices

Ola Olukoyede cautions youths against social vices. The Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede has cautioned youths across the country to steer clear of social vices and other acts of corruption in order to take their place as future builders of the nation.

He made this call on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, when a delegation of Youth Anti-Corruption Society paid a courtesy visit to the Directorate. Olukoyede tasked the youths to always follow the right path stressing that the cost of corruption outweighs the apparent benefits derivable from social vices

He also urged the youths to be good ambassadors and foot soldiers against corruption, internet fraud and other related crimes.

Olukoyede, who spoke through the Acting Director, Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE1 Hassan Saidu, assured the youths that the nation was relying on them to drive more positive changes through attitudinal redirection and “that’s why the Commission is trying its best to catch up with youths as you are the leaders of tomorrow”.

He further stressed that, “to make the society a better place for our survival we must prevent the leakages in our environment, the youths are the movers of the nation. The government and the Commission are doing their best to develop the nation and to empower the youths for the good of the society”.

Explaining the rationale of the visit, leader of the delegation, Comrade Sampson Abibo, thanked the Commission for the warm welcome and the opportunity granted to express their feelings as a youth’s anti-corruption body and further maintained that they came to seek continuous collaboration with the Commission in order to strengthen the fight against corruption.

“We are members of the youth anti-corruption society organization. We have been partnering with the Commission for the past five years in Rivers State and have launched a project called “Student Anti-corruption Initiative of Nigeria” a campaign against social vices, drug abuse and theft in both secondary and primary schools.

Abibo added that his organization was ready to partner with the EFCC to tackle “internet fraud, cyber bullying, hacking and unhealthy things that affect the society”.
