Trailer loses control in Kano multiple fatalities, injuries. Several people have lost their lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a trailer lost control on the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge in Kano State.
The trailer, reportedly en route to the southern region of the country, was involved in the tragic accident near Hotoro NNPC, under the bridge linking Mariri to Unguwa Uku.
Eyewitnesses stated that the truck, loaded with both passengers and goods, overturned, leaving over 20 people affected. Some victims died instantly, while others suffered severe injuries.
The accident occurred as the trailer approached Maiduguri Road, attempting to navigate the underpass tunnel, which provides access to the Ring Road and Zaria Highway.
Unfortunately, the vehicle slipped inside the underpass, leading to significant casualties.
Witnesses noted that similar accidents have previously occurred at the same location, often involving trailers transporting livestock, food items, and passengers from the northern to southern parts of Nigeria.

Business operators in the area attributed such incidents to drivers misjudging the clearance height under the bridge and approaching at high speeds.
Meanwhile, Kano State Fire Service Command spokesperson, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that officials are still working to gather full details of the incident.

Daso noted that only the Chairman’s shop was affected, and no casualties were recorded.

A trader, Hassan Abdullahi, confirmed that while goods were lost, the quick intervention of police and fire service personnel helped contain the damage.
As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire and the estimated property loss remain undetermined.

The management commended its staff for their vigilance in controlling the fire and praised the Abia State Fire Service for its prompt and professional response.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that all victims were receiving treatment at Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos, and were responding well.
