President Tinubu Saves N10tn Annually From Oil Subsidy Removal: Senator Adeola
President Tinubu saves N10tn annually from oil subsidy removal: Senator Adeola. Mr Adeola said that Mr Tinubu succeeded in removing a major cankerworm that had undermined the nation’s economy and finances.
Senator Solomon Adeola (APC–Ogun West) has revealed that Nigeria now saves approximately ₦10 trillion annually following President Bola Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy.
Mr Adeola, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, stated this on Saturday during his new year thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ona-Nla, Ilaro.
The senator noted that within two years in office, the president had succeeded in removing a major cankerworm that had undermined the nation’s economy and finances.
According to him, before the removal, few Nigerians were benefiting from the fuel subsidy at the expense of the nation’s overall population.
Mr Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, noted that prior to the removal of the fuel subsidy, Nigeria borrowed an estimated ₦6 trillion to ₦7 trillion each year to finance the subsidy.
“I am a living testimony to what the president has done. Within his two years of assumption of office, he succeeded in removing the cankerworm in our economy that has affected our finances over the years.
“That is, the fuel subsidy, which benefited very few Nigerians at the detriment of the overall population of this nation.
“With that singular action, the president is saving the country over N10 trillion on an annual basis.
“I used to be the chairman of the Senate committee on finance during the last Senate, and I know on a yearly basis what we go to the bank to borrow to fund the subsidy is in the region of N6 trillion to N7 trillion on an annual basis,” he said.
Mr Adeola said the president is working around the clock to ensure a secure and prosperous Nigeria that citizens can be proud of, adding that extensive infrastructural renewal is currently ongoing across the country.

Tinubu
“The president is creating a new Nigeria. The Lagos-Calabar expressway will cut across 10 or 15 states, and that is a new Nigeria being born. Also, the Sokoto-Badagry way, a popular road, which we are also a beneficiary of.
“Along that road alone, we have a total of 66 dams. When that road is fully completed, the president has also succeeded in creating a new Nigeria and a new economy for our country as a result of these 66 dams across the highway,” he said.
The diocesan bishop of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro, Michael Oluwarohunbi, appreciated the senator for changing the landscape of development in the Ogun West Senatorial District.

Ondo Youths Petition Tinubu To Sack NDDC Board Member Otito
Ondo Youths Petition Tinubu To Sack NDDC Board Member Otito
Ondo youths petition Tinubu to sack NDDC board member Otito. “Let them go and meet Mr President to remove me. That’s my reaction to the allegations,” he said.
The Coalition of Oil Producing Youths of Ondo State has urged President Bola Tinubu to sack Otito Atikase-Ehinmore, the state representative on Niger Delta Development Commission board, over alleged abuse of office.
COPYOS made the demand in a petition addressed to Mr Tinubu and signed by 47 members including Samuel Ikumapayi and Oluwole Fagbin, the President and Secretary respectively.
The petition was made available to journalists on Saturday in Okitipupa.
The group gave Mr Tinubu two weeks to remove Mr Atikase-Ehinmore, threatened massive protests at the state level and NDDC offices if the President refused to sack him.
The coalition comprising youths, women, community leaders and other stakeholders, expressed disappointment over Mr Atikase-Ehinmore’s alleged gross misconduct.
According to the group, since assuming office, Mr Atikase-Ehinmore has being inaccessible and unaccountable to youth groups, community stakeholders and traditional rulers in the mandate areas.
“Atikase-Ehinmore has turned the state’s seat to a “ghost position,” by depriving the state of visibility and developmental benefits from NDDC,” the coalition stated.
The group also accused Mr Atikase-Ehinmore of allocating the only four NDDC employment slots meant for the oil producing communities to his immediate family members.
According to the group, the benefiting family members are Dare Ehinmore, Dayo Ehinmore, Babatumde Ehinmore and Taye Stella Olayemi.
The coalition also alleged that the NDDC board member diverted money allocated for the 2023 and 2024 NDDC Youth Empowerment Programmes.
“Atikase-Ehinmore also diverted relief materials sent to the oil-producing communities by the NDDC to assist victims of environmental degradation. These acts represent a betrayal of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu’s administration and a cruel exploitation of the people’s pain.

President Tinubu
“The NDDC was established to restore hope and drive development in the Niger Delta, not to serve as a personal treasury for selfish appointees. We, therefore, demand his immediate removal and the appointment of a credible and people-oriented representative who will align with the President’s development vision for the Niger Delta region.
“We warn that if no action within two weeks, we will be left with no choice but to embark on a peaceful but massive protests and demonstrations across the state and NDDC offices until justice is done,” the coalition stated.
Reacting, Mr Atikase-Ehinmore neither confirm nor deny the allegations levelled against him by COPYOS.
“Let them go and meet Mr President to remove me. That’s my reaction to the allegations,” he said.
