Ex-Lawmaker Commended Tinubu For sacking 3 RECs To proves Commitment To Electoral Reforms
Ex-lawmaker commended Tinubu for sacking 3 RECs to proves commitment to electoral reforms. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has commended President Bola Tinubu for the recent dismissal of three Resident Electoral Commissioners, describing it as a strong signal of the President’s commitment to electoral reforms.
Oyintiloye asserted that the decision demonstrated the President’s resolve to sanitise Nigeria’s electoral process and enhance its credibility.
The former lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly made these remarks in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Sunday.
He highlighted that the President’s decision to seek the Senate’s concurrence before effecting the RECs’ dismissal—and the subsequent approval by the Red Chamber—illustrated a unified effort between the executive and legislative arms of government to serve the public good.
According to him, the removal of the RECs serves as a strong warning to election managers across the country that electoral misconduct will not be tolerated.
He also emphasised that removing the commissioners following their suspension would help restore public confidence in the country’s electoral system and reinforce accountability.
“I want to commend the President for the bold step in terminating the appointments of the suspended RECs.
This action underscores his dedication to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections that Nigerians can take pride in.
“The suspension and eventual termination of the three RECs — Ike Uzochukwu (Abia), Hudu Yunusa-Ari (Adamawa), and Nura Ali (Sokoto) — send a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated.

Tinubu
“The President has pledged to fight corruption, and this move serves as a lesson to other public servants that Nigeria is advancing towards a more transparent and accountable system,” he stated.
He, however, urged the President to remain steadfast in his anti-corruption crusade, noting that the ongoing efforts were already yielding positive results.
