The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced the revocation of defaulting subscribers with offer of provisional allocation of houses under the National Housing Programme.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, made this known in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Salisu Haiba, on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Mr Belgore, the revocation affected recipients who failed to make full and outright payment within the stipulated period of 90 days and the additional eight-week grace granted.

He said, “This decision aligns with the terms and conditions outlined in paragraph 2 of the provisional offer of allocation letter issued to beneficiaries.

It reinforces the ministry’s commitment to ensuring transparency, compliance and efficient management of the National Housing Programme. The revocation strictly applies to those who did not fulfill the payment requirements within the designated time-frame.’’

Mr Belgore further clarified that beneficiaries who successfully completed their payments on or before February 28, 2025, remained unaffected by the action.

He also advised that they should come to the ministry to collect their letters of allocation and proceed to take possession of the houses immediately.

The permanent secretary said that for ease of reference and public accountability, the full list of individuals whose provisional offer of allocation had been revoked would now be available on the Ministry’s official website.

He added that it would also be published in the Daily Trust, Nation and Leadership newspapers, in the first week of April, 2025.

The permanent secretary noted that the ministry remained dedicated to providing accessible and affordable housing to Nigerians, and the measure was part of ongoing efforts to streamline the housing allocation process for greater efficiency and fairness.

The lawmaker, who arrived in a helicopter on Tuesday, was received by a jubilant crowd in Okehi local government area.

Her return comes after the Kogi state government banned public gatherings and rallies over alleged security concerns.

Amoka Monday, chairman of Okehi LGA, had also declared a curfew across the council area.

“Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I’m an Ebira person; this is my land,” she said in Ebira language.

“I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots; I’m not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody.”

Her arrival follows a warning from the Kogi police command urging her to cancel a planned Eid-el-Fitr celebration rally in the district.

However, her media team dismissed any speculation about a cancellation, maintaining that the visit would proceed as planned.

Before her return, the senator had alleged that any violence during the event should be blamed on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi state, and Yahaya Bello, the former governor of the state.

“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today,” she wrote on Facebook.

“However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”

Despite the security concerns and government restrictions, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return was met with widespread celebrations, as supporters gathered to welcome the lawmaker back to her hometown.

The Plateau Internal Revenue Service (PIRS) says it generated more than N3.3 billion as internally generated revenue (IGR) in January.

Jim Wayas, the chairman of PIRS, disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Monday in Jos.
Mr Wayas said this achievement aimed to meet the service’s target of N52 billion in 2025.

“We started 2025 on a strong footing; in January alone, we have already generated slightly above N3.3 billion. “This is a departure from what we generated in the past; in January 2024, for instance, we generated N1.6 billion only.

“So, it means that we are starting on a better footing towards meeting our target for the year,” he said.

Mr Wayas said that despite the tough economic realities, the service had adopted some friendly measures towards improving the IGR of the state.

“Economic activities are not booming as they should, but the idea is that we are not strangulating businesses to fund government activity or businesses.

“What we are doing is to also encourage business. For the nano businesses, we are not even saying come and pay by all means because we know they are trying to survive.

“Like I will always say, we are not taxing the seed, that is the capital, but we are taxing the income you make out of the capital,” he explained.

The chairman said the government was bridging the state’s infrastructure deficit, calling on the residents to pay their taxes regularly for better service delivery.
